Why not write out a proper form of governance? The best way to end conflict is to produce an ambience for this site. However, this does not necessarily entail a rules page.

You get much better effects and users willing to join if you lead by example, opposed to dictation. Having an old class rules book exercises a classical approach in management, and is NOT popular in the USA. I know the internet is global, but being based out of USA, I think you should evaluate trends from where the site is based at. From there, you can worry about oversea opinions.

I have a book that I consider my bible. It's called Strategic Writing: Multimedia Writing for Public Relations, Advertising, and More and I think you would love some of the content in it. There are sections dedicated to blog scripting, slogans, formal and informal worksheets, etc.

I am not saying you have to agree with my suggestion, but I think you should least give it a shot. There may be material you would like. In my opinion, to effectively promote ID is to be effective. On the internet, that is determined by layout and language. You have the layout done well, but maybe your ambience can find more consistency.

Okay! By the way, I read through your forum rules. I don't want you to confuse what I am suggesting with that. I know I sound like a broken record, but I guess it is because there is a level of lingo between forms of writing. Whether it be creative, technical, or whatever... There's lots of levels of writing that effect the way it is interpreted.

I know you're sassy Archy, and I am sassy too. However, not everyone is. This is your site, and you run it as you see fit. Though, the only thing I want you to know is, is that lets say someone random is reading that... It may rub them the wrong way. The one thing I learned from my undergrad is objectivity. There are times when I need to turn on and turn off my personality. Its like with the whole gay thing. Sure, in casual conversation I will be overly flamboyant, even offensive, but in certain areas I am quite monotone and placid. Personally, when having to speak downward, I execute the latter.

For example, you abuse the word "common sense" quite often. But, I don't think you realize what is common is very subjective. However, through this governance aspect I suggest, you can define the "commonality" you seek on this site. I think your forum rules touches on this aspect. But honestly Archy, and I say this as your friend, had I not known you or your ways, I would have not bothered to finish reading the extensive read because I'd be like, "This guy is full of himself!" :no:

Then again, I am an overly analytical person. But, I keep seeing so much potential in YOU and YOUR work! So, I am just passing on what I learned and deem as valuable advice. :rtfm:

As far as the scans, you should pick some topics that interest you and I'll scan those sections. To be honest I don't really feel like scanning the whole book. :wallbash:

I think they are a good set of rules. They support every single thing I value in a community.

If you disagree with what they say let me know (and why) and we can possibly change them

Nah, I don't disagree with them. If anything, I do agree. But, had I not been an overconfident asshole, I may have lost the effect you were going for...

I dunno', maybe I am just a huge nerd and am thinking too much into this. I'm doing a battle in TO at the moment, but I will scan some pages I think you may like. I am not ever going to tell you what or what not to do Archy. This is your show. Me? I'm merely the chorus...

Well I believe when you don't disagree with something, doesn't necessarily mean you support it. However, I support your rules.

Especially the part about leading by example. But what examples translate through the internet? Writing properly? Not trolling? Always being serious and on topic? Producing a shitload of videos?
