Keeping that payload away from your computer will no doubt get harder as Microsoft redoubles its efforts to force it on people. The only solution I can truly advocate is shutting down Windows Update entirely.
And yeah, I'm definitely gonna start poking around with Linux on my laptop. I already use it for work, but I've never used it for personal stuff.

So, I've read a bunch about people not liking Windows 10, and I get the anti-Windows sentiment. But I also use Linux and I've always operated under the assumption that using Linux is for when you want to actually have privacy and using Windows is for when you don't. I also disabled outbound traffic from services on ports I don't pre-approve via my firewall, but that's a lot more than most people will go through in terms of effort.
I guess where I fall on this is that the transition is already happening and I don't have enough energy at the end of the work week to care enough to want to change it.
But of course, it is good that BTB is championing the cause so lazy assholes such as myself can benefit. Someone has to fight for the people.

Oh, look, MORE data for Windows 10 to send back to Microsoft.
Go fuck yourself, Microsoft.

Just here to plug for Linux.
I'm thinking of ridding myself completely of microsoft, even om my to-be gaming computer that I intend to build. There will be a few games that I might miss, but there's so many games to play still that I wouldn't have to go bored.
I also have a PS4, which could cover for whatever I can't run on a Linux machine. :3

I had my first experience the other week in dealing with the GWX ap when we installed a new thin client at work with Windows 7 on it and I had to cleanse it.
It wasn't too bad, since I knew exactly what to do. I can totally see someone who doesn't know what they're doing getting steamrolled by it, though.

I love my baby lizard to death but god she's on her own level of dense
She hasn't fully understood the concept of windows
So she'll run full-force towards the window in the hopes to be outside in the sun
thunk
And she'll just sit there like 'wat just happened'

its ok
BTB frequently has that reaction to windows

This makes me sad that the laptop I want to get is going to come with Windows 10.
