Minor bugs and Feedback

It has been a while since I've played FF IV, so this mod fell right on time.
I've just reached Watery Pass Lake, and so far, no real trouble, I really like this mod. The fight against Rubicant was somewhat harder than the rest, but once the strategy has been figured out, it's just a matter of keeping HP and MP at a decent level.
I've encountered a couple of bugs, some minor, one or two really annoying, so I thought I might point them here (as there isn't a bug report topic yet).
1. Let's start with the worst one : Tellah's ability "Train" makes the game crash. Everytime. I can go on without using it though.
2. Rosa's "Pray" cast Death on the party, everytime. I don't know if it's the 20% fail that's mentionned in the read me, but I have yet to see its success.
3. Edward "Sing" failed to work everytime I used it. I haven't tried it a lot though.
4. Minor text bug. Whenever I use the "Focus" ability, the text for "Romeo's Ballad" shows up.
5. While changing equips for Yang, I noticed that when I exchange the weapon that was in the Left Hand with one in the inventory, the one that was equipped beforehand just vanishes into thin air (I lost the Ice claw without noticing it).
I believe that is all. Dark Wave seems to become useless (and by that I mean the damage output isn't significant anymore) around the Antlion's Nest, but I guess it's normal. Other than that, great mod. I spent hours playing without noticing them.
EDIT : Now that I think about it, I can't remember which rom I patched. Maybe all those bugs come from a bad rom to begin with. I'll double check.
EDIT : My bad, the rom I used was headered I guess (that what you get from patching on a smartphone). Patched again on a clean unheadered one, everything seems fine, except the bug with Yang's weapons.

Thanks for the feedback! I'll have to take a look at the thing with Yang. Were you swapping in battle or out of battle?

I've just checked, it happens when I do it in and out of battle. When I do it during a battle, it shows 0 as the number of the switched claw (still only the left hand) until I close the inventory.

I'm pretty sure that the Tellah "Train" crashing and the Rosa "Pray" death mode are related to the version of the ROM you are using. I had the exact same problem and then I found the version 1.1 ROM that Rynzer recommends and then it was fine.
I did it around the Antlion cave so I don't know if there is anything later in the game that makes the 1.0 version unplayable, but I did totally get a kick out the negative answer to Rosa's prayers--don't anger the final fantasy gods I guess.
EDIT: Red Dust I didn't see your edit so I guess you've already got it set. Anyway, while we're on the topic of Yang's claws, from what I could tell (it's tough when there is so much variance in damage) the game only applies elemental/racial modifiers once when its calculating damage, so you don't need to do what I foolishly did and double up on elemental claws hoping you could get even more damage out of it. This means that you can always be running 2 elements with Yang and that its worth keeping the silver knife around for edge to get the bonus against undead.

Yea, the elemental claw thing was like that in vanilla FFIV as well. You're always better served just having one of each claw (unless you just want the better stat boosts).
Haven't gotten around to testing the claw bug you reported yet, but perhaps this weekend.

On another note, I received the Zantetsuken weapon after that fight, but it's not mentionned in the excel sheet. Does it have any use (side quest or anything) or should I just dismiss it to the fat chocobo for now?

It has a use. You can use it as soon as you get it. You can't equip it.

What Lock said. You may need to pester some NPCs to find out its exact use.

So after what seemed to be hours of fighting against Dragons, Omegas and Behemoths, I've finally finished the game. To be honest, FF IV isn't my favourite of the series (to this day, I still don't understand why), so I was a bit reluctant to start the mod. But once in, I played for hours straight. So good job on that. The story was good, the fights had the right amount of difficulty (not too easy, but not hardtype hard either). The final boss was a tad tooeasy though, considering the whole team was fully equiped with the best equipment. That was a slight mistake of you ask me. Putting all the "ultimate equipments" on the road to the final boss makes them kinda too easy to get (even with a boss fight before each one), plus it doesn't give quite the chance to try them out. It also robs you of a few hours of gameplay, as you don't have to run from one place to another. But that didn't really affect the gaming experience in a bad way, that was just a choice. Overall, great work on this man, I hope I can play another game of yours in the future.

Thanks for the feedback!
The last boss difficulty is something I hope to address in a future update. The editor I use is unable to alter the scripts of Moon enemies, so I have to basically stat bloat them to compensate. There were also a few other adjustments that made the fight easier than I was expecting.

All the best equipment was found on the way to the final boss in vanilla too (and most rpgs lol)...especially final fantasies. I'm almost done the game and I'll provide some feedback soon.

There's some really good equipment that can make the last third of the game much easier that's optional, but yes, the best equipment is obtained very late game.

It's not really that the last boss is weaker statistically (other than Meteo), the party is stronger relative to their vanilla selves. Kain and Edge in particular have higher attacking stats than in vanilla FF4 so they knock off HP at a higher rate.
