[Hart-Hunt]

I beat Necron today, third try (v.2.0.5).

I'm absolutely thrilled with that final battle, to be honest. Shell and Protect got replaced here to Wall and Wall2 (Shell, Protect, Regen).

Party was Zidane (67), Dagger (66), Eiko (66), Amarant (64). This was my 5th battle with Trance Kuja, and I had Zidane's Trance built up, which made things a lot easier. You eventually get used to the effectively Double Flare Star, by having Amarant follow with Aura right after Dyne on one of the casters. Summons are incredible powerful here, Ark keeps being a ridiculously powerful attack + recover from Regen for everyone (Thank you long animation), and Madeen did respectable damage. Whenever Kuja casted Reflect, I'd Dispel it to encourage him to waste another turn. Also, whenever I could I'd reapply Shell to tank any low tier magic. I didn't have an Angel Flute to absorb holy, sadly, but that helped me in the long run. Also, 2 casts of Might, and Zidane was doing quad nines with Grand Lethal. You could see Kuja giving you the middle finger.

And then, that son of a bitch Necron. He may get 1 or 2 turns afaik in a row, basically. Blue Shockwave is a free turn to reapply Aura if it misses, same with the elemental magics (Protect rings, anyone?). Amarant was in the race of his life to apply Aura. Zidane threw Elixirs, and eventually threw our last-resort Dark Matter. Here, Eiko really shined, since she would threw a Madeen that would do quad nines, since she had her Strengthen: Holy Racket, and Necron apparently doesn't like Holy damage.

Now, in my first 2 tries, I equipped Immunity to most of the statuses (I don't like Grand Cross). It worked well, but I didn't have enough HP for Neutron Ring, or I was too slow (lack of Auto-Haste). On this try, I saw my equips (basically, Auto-Life, Auto-Haste, Auto-Regen, HP+20%), and said fuck it. And what happened? I got a really good Grand Cross. Eventually I got 3 people who survived it (Amarant got a Death Proc). And what did I say? FUCK IT. Zidane threw that Dark Matter, Dagger casted Ark, Eiko casted Madeen again. Necron casts Necron Ring, Zidane survives (!) and the other two get Auto Life. Somehow, Dagger gets of another Ark off even after using Auto-Life (I assume it is designed so Necron gets a delay after NC), Zidane uses an Elixir on Eiko (MP recovery), Necron does something, then Eiko finishes him off with Madeen.

Thank you for the amazing experience Landon. I'd go after Ozma, but I couldn't find two of the friendly creatures, and oh well. It's just Ozma.
