Insane Difficulty: How didn't i see this sooner? - Insane Difficulty

I don't know how could i have missed this mod. MMX is one of my favourite video game sagas.

What i've seen so far is great, and by that i mean the intro level and part of flame mammoth's level. Because why not starting with a harcore dificulty maverick?

Also. For some reason the death counter is bugged, when i start a new game is normal, but when i enter this code:

I don't know why it happened. At the moment i had Zero problems 0 problems aside this, so i think i patched it the right way.


Maybe the game thought "wow this guy sure sucks a MMX i better don't let he see the death counter".

I'm sure Hart appropriated the "Lives" counter to make the new "Deaths" counter, so any code that affects how many lives you have will mess with the death counter.

Hm, that's odd. I knew the death counter didn't work properly with save codes but didn't know this kind of glitch was in there.

I think most players use savestates between stages while playing on an emulator to maintain their progress, because remembering those codes is a pain in the ass.

It's a well-designed mod though. Good to hear another person picked it up and is enjoying it. Are you streaming your run by any chance? Also, try Kuwanger's stage. It's my favourite stage.

About the streaming: my internet sucks (512 kbs connection if i'm not wrong ), my english pronunciation and fluidity is bad (at least that's what i think). And i'm Argentinian and you're probably from USA or an even farther away country, i don't think that helps either.

And i just write the codes.

I know a few Spanish speaking streamers that really improved their English fluency by forcing themselves to always speak English while streaming. There's really no better way to improve than forcing yourself to practice.

But, if your upload rate is too slow to stream, it can't be helped I guess.

Ludo, you're right, that's the same thing that happens when you load state, but that might not be the case here. Just in case though jm_00, could you try Re-loading the ROM again, and try the password again? Do NOT use the Reset option, because that wouldn't clear up the RAM values.

Close guess Stann. The death counter is in some other RAM offsets (3, one for each digit), that aren't used in the game and are preset normally to [I don't remember which hex value]. The code I made presets those RAM offsets to 00, 00, 00. It seems that there are two routines instead of one for the password screen, which is kinda silly from Capcom <.<.

Anyway jm_00, if what I said at the beginning of the post doesn't work, to make the death counter = 0, may I suggest using a little hack in the RAM memory. You'll need to change 7E1FB8, 7E1FB9, 7E1FBA to 00. Skip the next paragraph if you don't care about it and just wanna play without death counter.



Alternatively, try using another password.

I'm from Australia. Being familiar with Hart's internet connection (I assume yours isn't any better) it's a damn shame you can't stream effectively. Stann is right, though, about forcing yourself to speak English greatly improving your fluency. It's done wonders for Hart. His English has improved heaps since he started.

No pressure though. Enjoy your jump 'n' shoot man game.

After like an hour playing i defeated Mammoth. Mammoth becomes imposible (at least for me) if he spams the side platforms.


Chill Penguin stage is the easiest. At first i tought Chill Penguin himself was too hard, but when you get used to his new speed he's actually really easy.

Chill has a mixed bag of opinions. I've had people telling me it was too easy, while I've witnessed others getting stuck at him for hours.

And yeah, the double death is me feeding with your tears. That's one of the things that I designed at the very first version, and I still love it nowadays.

I still swear by Storm Eagle as a good first stage as it's fairly straightforward without a lot of gimmicks, and you get the head upgrade.

Gotta agree. That's because you don't have the "chill penguin first stage" vanilla habit.

Why is it so far down the list?

I lack routine.

Don't worry about it. That only means you're saving it for the time that you'll enjoy it most. I know I did that for some other games.

Armored armadillo stage was not that bad, except if you mess up with the mechanoloid parts.

Storm Eagle stag was easy too. I think i died more times forgetting to dash jump the spikes when respawning before Eagle fight than with Eagle himself..

Chameleon:storm tornado made the rock reploids part really easy, aside from that a very easy stage. when i saw the quicksand and the insta-death walls i tought "ohh... f*ck*, but , surprisingly, beat him in a good number of tries.

Mammoth still has the record of killing me the most at the moment.

Boomer Kuwanger: the stage is greatly done, my skills really suck tough i at least died 70. Kuwanger's fight is a fun one.

Spark Mandrill: you sure are a troll Hart, those annoying flying-light-birds-something at the end of the stage got me pissed, specially when i saw the boss door was two steps away. Mandrill is the first boss where i actually used weaknesses.

Launch octopus: what can i say, another great stage. Octupus.... i spammed weapons like crazy on him, he and Mandrill are the mavericks who i feared because i knew they were going to be thought ones, and i think i never beat them buster only in vainilla.

Storm tornado should only have one, or maybe two, uses, it's hard to avoid using it on turtles and the blue things that use missiles and....electro spheres?, especially with vainilla habits. Next time Eagle is going to be the last maverick i fight....

Now it's time for the Sigma stages.
