How about a Russian Ramza Roulette? You apply each job to a number, and before each battle, have a random number generator select 2 jobs, one for main, one for secondary, and each battle you have to enter with Ramza as those classes. (you can grind randoms in between as those classes for abilities, but each story battle you have to roll for new jobs).
