Hey, I've been looking at trying this out with my younger brother and sister, as they watched me play vanilla years ago, and now they wanna try a 3 player game with me now that they're a little older. So, I wanna try this version, because a lot of the class changes sound cool, but I'll be rolling out with the easy version.
So my question is, once I have the correct rom, what's my order, here? I have one that has the English translation + 3 player hack already installed, do I do the hard type first then the easy mode on top of that? Or do I need a fresh Japanese rom and do the English + 3p after this one? Sorry if I sound confused, there is like three hacks for this project and I'm a little lost lol.

As long as you remove the rom header with snesROMUtil before patching, you can put the hard mode patch over the translated rom with no problems. But be warned : The 3-player hack can lock your game on the Ghost Ship. Be sure to disable the third player control when you're there, since you lose control of a character for that segment. There may be also other bugs in other places, so save often.

Would that just be using Start (or whatever) to turn the controller off in game? Or get into the Emu menu and turn the controller off from there?

Ingame should suffice
Not suffice but is required; the game checks for its own controller settings, not what your emulator knows...
that ghost ship event overall is buggy, do NOT save in-game during it! otherwise that save won't load at all
patch order:
shouldn't matter as long as the difficulty changers come after the main patch (requires headerless)

Whats the secret to successfully patch 3 player and hardmode?
I've tried regular unheadered file + 3p +Hm and it crashes
I've tried regular unheadered + HM + 3P and that crashes
I tried to do regular headere + 3P then tried to remove the header and snes util won't even let me remove the header at that point
I even tried regular unheadered + 3p + HM and it crashed too (no surprise since HM requires headerless
I can't get it to work. What order should it be done with? I'm beginning to think the 3p patch I have requires a headered rom

that depends on the 3-player hack.
Does it have any info attached or was there something on the download site?
I found one on romhacking.net which states it requires a headered ROM.
So it would be:
headered ROM -> 3p -> off with its head (remove header under tasks) -> hard patch

That's the issue - I have the patch from that site, but SNES UTIL will not let me remove the header after I apply the 3player patch .ips to the game file.

Ok, give this a try AFTER the hard patch.
It sets the same 2 bytes as the other 3 player patch but is for no header.
Since the 2 changes are well enough documented, I'll add it as a separate patch in future versions, like the difficulty changers.
