As suggested in the "Next D2 LP" topic:

One central character.

The whole party rallies to ensure that one character (to be referred to as #1) survives. Survival of #1 is put above all others. Since it is hardcore, other members create backups in case someone dies (backups built upon when not recording).

For Example: Amazon maxes Inner Sight and Slow Missile. This limits her own offense, but helps #1 with killing and staying alive.

Goals:
Hell completion, #1 reaching lvl 99

Interim goals:
Normal, Nightmare completion, #1 reaching lvl thresholds (25, 50, 75)

Fail:
#1 dies

Any other suggestions? Anyone willing to try this? Arch offered to record if any of us go through with it.

I'd consider it. Been playing a lot with ladder reset. How many auras can we get on her at once! I'm calling a pally. Or barring that a nec. Mojomancer FTW.

I'm sure there are certain restrictions preventing a team running around with conviction, fanaticism, meditation, cleansing and salvation.

I mean throw in an assassin with cloak of shadows and that's pretty much all you'd need to end hell.

Well if only the #1 can take any offensive actions, and especially if #1 is some sort of melee, it might be quite difficult for that person to make it. Holy bolt is the only direct healing and its pretty crummy, and even with salvation, cloak, fantacism, mediatation, etc, a poorly geared character can still easy just get amp'd and smashed. Also, given that only #1 can take offensive action, I vote against sorc as #1 cause a single immune will pretty much end you unless you have someone running conviction and its a light sorc, and even then some enemies still can't be broken, but no bosses thankfully.
