Who is your favorite? What builds do you like and why?

Celes was one of the few characters that had SO many options, I couldn't decide how to build her. I split her ELs between Shiva and Phantom. I was toying with ways to work speed into her build effectively, but couldn't decide how to do it since it would come at the expense of other stats.

Because Celes for me won't be tanking endgame, I want to do a Siren-heavy build next game. I'd love to do her magic/speed/stamina, but Phantom is Celes's only stamina option.

I'd love to figure out how to do an effective Crusader build, too.

Celes can also equip Seraph.

There are so many things to do I just don't know what to do with her or where to start!

TERRA IS A BAD B!TCH. I gave her 2/3 Maduin, and 1/3 Bismark. Next playthrough, I would totally pump all her stats into Maduin because, endgame, she wasn't doing anything physically at all (when it came to bosses, anyway). Her magic output was so ridiculously high that even on split target spells, she was doing close to 8k damage. Morphing became unnecessary late game.

Gem Box makes her go and go and go. Crystal Orb... whew! The late game Ragnarok was ridiculous and I had endless amounts of fun indulging in an inexpensive Ultima smashfest.

Her only problem is that she's slow. as. mud. Not quite as bad as Cyan. And she can't cast Rerise.

Kefka's tower was the most fun dungeon in the game, IMHO.

Another question: WHEN is Merton useful?

There's only one Minerva, and only one Apocallumina, so the hack really forces you to choose. Not that I'm complaining - I think it's brilliant - I just have to have nine million more replays, now. <3

Merton's not useful unless you go out of your way to make it useful. Yes, Terra's magic is ridiculously powerful, even without investment.

Siren + Seraph Celes is one of my favorite builds in the game. Celes' other builds I dislike or am disappointed in, so I prefer Terra in those cases. Prefer a very bulky mag Terra.

Seriously though, I tend to run a different Celes build for each of my runs. My most recent has been Crusader/Alexandr for that delicious ???? damage (sometimes with Omega Weapon/Black Belt counters if Terra ever unequips the former) and Phantom/Seraph was before that for some goddamn ridiculous bulk, but my favorite has always been Siren/Crusader with Illumina/Aegis/Oath/Minerva for stupid fast Holy procs. Celes has always been a staple for my endgame teams.

I tend to be a little less versatile with Terra, but that's because Stam Terra just ravages everything in her path with the Omega. With Morph she can start brushing up against the damage cap with her normal hits, and her Stamina is so high that the Morph increased damage taken isn't too severe. Stam Terra best Terra, but any Celes is best Celes.

I wasn't sure if Siren/Crusader would dilute Celes too much in... unspecializing her build, or if it would make her more all-specialized.

The other thing I'm pondering with Terra is that IF her magic hits 9999 before endgame, it would be more efficient for me to give her more stamina than magic (rather than 50/50 each)... multitargeting a spell being the only exception to that.

I prefer Terra...her builds are down-to-earth and hybridization works exceptionally well; tossing her on Full Unicorn makes her a badass tanky attacker; mixing Unicorn with Maduin makes her an all-around Red Mage, Mixing Unicorn and Carbunkl gives her bunky stamina-based healing goodness as backup healer + Omega spam...

I would like to play her endgame-only as full tritoch just to see how much damage Omega can do xD Imagine it: level 30, 25 full Tritoch levels...Omega/Aegis/OathVeil/GenjiArmor/Black belt and black heart = 43vig/45spd/50mgc/90 stam...1530 hp, which does just fine. THE STAMINA! MUAHAHHAA...and 45 speed isn't shabby either.


Celes has her uses, but mostly I dump magic on her and she becomes a Holy Virgin (because I doubt Locke will ever get to actually tap that; unless someone wants to use a sprite sheet and editor to make it happen I doubt we'll ever see a single pixel of naked Celes sprite).

If we're going to have a 3rd naked character (after Mog and Umaro) it better be Gau.

As far as Celes vs Terra goes, so far I've liked Celes more. Runic and her spell loadout appeal to me more and she works well as a... team mom. In my (one) playthrough Celes and Terra are both just random ELs because 1.6 EL system. While I've gotten to see Terra go ham a few times I just feel like I get more milage out of Celes supporting everyone else and getting the occasional swing/spell off.

Indeed there exists such a thing..but not in-game If I could do it, I'd change the short scene in Albrook to have Locke and Celes do a bend-er-over on the rail... but that's just me.
