Yeah i did get Auto Protect and Shell from the chocobo world, these ones are so useful, you should get them when you can if it's possible. I also got the Salomon ring from the chocobo world, I didn't even know you can get it through the CW and obtain Doomtrain before Esthar, his not very useful though.
I will beat Odin later. I hope the Seifer fight will be challenging then, i have never did this fight without odin.
By the way the chocobo world is very useful, i got all the blue magic, a lot of item to refine and GF abilities items (Rosetta Stones^^), and all i have to do was let boko run alone while i'm playing, even when your not playing you can let it run in background, and get my rewards afterwards.

I might have no choice but to do this. I'm stuck on the Ragnarok in space because I can't beat the Propagors. Their physical attacks do so much damage and they're so fast. Or I'm too slow. I guess this is my fault for not leveling up Rinoa more but I haven't used her that much this playthrough.

The only thing I can think to do besides CW is to dump a bunch of HP+ abilities on Squall and hope he can tank the attacks long enough to kill the things. They have very low HP and Spr so I can kill them in a couple turns with Doublecasting but the problem was getting that far since they can wipe me out in less than a minute.

Doesn't help I have Rinoa with Defend and Cover but she NEVER FRICKIN' COVERS SQUALL. Gr.

I just passed the ragnarok, it didn't cause me any problem squall was lvl 63 and Rinoa lvl 32, i have killed the propagator in one turn using str +30% and +20%, HP+40% and auto-protect on both charaters and using darkside with both (7500 dmg for squall and 4500 for rinoa) i had also junctionned drain to status att it can be useful. Try to put HP+ abilities on both, cast protect on both as soon as you can, use squall for attacking and rinoa for healing, don't forget they can use the death spell too (junction esuna, life and death on status def junction) you can also try darkside to kill them more quickly, it does some pretty nice damage boost.

I always forget about Darkside because physical damage is generally so useless in this game. Real, efficient damage is done via Double or Triple casting magi ya know.

I settled on a strategy of total offense. Just go in guns blazing, don't worry about defensive buffs like Protect or Shell. It's not a surefire strategy because sometimes the turn order/ATB/whatever screws you over but it works a good majority of the time. Switching over Squall to Darkside and using up all his ability slots for Str was a good idea, thank you.

My Squall is Level 62 and Rinoa is Level 20.

My Squall is Level 62 and Rinoa is Level 20.

I know triple is really powerful, i use it against high level monster with demi until their HP are low enough and then finish them off with physical attacks or magic depending on the monster. I'm currently doing some lvl up on the island closest to heaven, it's the tactic i use.

I also just finished the Jumbo Cactuar fight, it was fun, if you can you should get him before doing level up because he has the HP bonus abilitie. And if you haven't already got Doomtrain he has also one. But be careful with Jumbo cactuar his Ker Plunk attack, who hits all you characters, was doing about 5000 damages with protect on, so if you don't have protect on it's a game over I think, and his Stamp attack was doing about 7000 whith protect, but his Vit is low, I was able to do 9999 dmg with squall (Darkside, Str30/20% and water on elem-att junction).

And if you didn't know, the auto-protect/shell can't be dispel and are always actives even when your revive you charaters, the only downside is about shell who halfed your healing spells.

For awhile, I was stuck behind the broken registration, so I couldn't really do anything other than download this mod. At first I grabbed the last PSX version. I had played up until about halfway through disc 2 when I saw that a new version had been released for the PC version, which was a drastically different setup. I decided to restart, and overall it was a fun experience. I still haven't started the final battle, but I think I'll be okay. A few notes about my game.

Admittedly, I used Hyne for spells and items I had already gained in the PSX version so I wouldn't have to spend time redrawing everything again. I only took what was actually available in this version until I reached the same point (since there was no card mod, and fixed levels meant many high-level spells like Tornado and good items couldn't be found yet). So no, I didn't give myself a bunch of meteor, ultima, all junction scrolls, etc. If I had it already in the PSX version, AND it was available in this version where I was at, I gave it back to myself. I don't quite have the time I used to to do that kind of grinding...again.
I also used Chocobo World. Setting the ID to 0211 via a hex editor is the best allegedly, but supposedly that was fixed to not matter. I beg to differ. My first game I had started I had mostly crap items, but with ID 0211, I got much more A and B class items. Auto-Protect and Shell are absolute godsends when you have those abilities. Rosettas from the prison as well. And Shockwave Pulsar becomes a huge part of your attack until Meteor Wing/Lionheart once it's available from CW.
Once Lunatic Pandora was ready to be infiltrated, I also used Hyne to fast-track the level-up process, along with the HP bonuses of each of the 3 GFs that have it. Again, I've ground out levels when I was a teenager a few decades ago. Upon reaching the LP, I was around a level 30 average. This would be a longer process now due to the difficulty. I don't have that time. It takes me about two months to do a game like this, if not longer sometimes. Need to cut corners, but still leave the fun stuff.

Anyway, onto the game. Disc 1 wasn't too hard. The fixed levels means it's not too bad. Elvoret wasn't too bad thanks to the Seifer (and by extension, GF) leveling to about 50. So for the first disc, Quetzl was the primary damage source, as well as Shiva/Ifrit. Managed to defeat Edea on this one, rather than let the fight end with Squall dead on the PSX version. Got things like Tornado from the Windmills dropped by Thrustaevis, along with other decent spells if available. Whispers mugged from Adamantoise, etc. Basically if there's an enemy with an available item, regardless of rarity, you ground it out for the spells refined from that item. Never really had but a few opportunities for weapon upgrades. Not going to waste good items on low upgrades for the most part.

Side note: DIABLOS. Good god, was this difficult. Using Squall, Zell, and Selphie. She got a Wall, but it was early in the fight, and while it helped, you need it in the latter portion of the fight. Because at some HP%, Diablos starts doing his physical attack. And it's a OHKO even at full health. And he's fast. I don't even know how I won at this point in the game. Constant rezzing, plus PRAYING for gravija and not the physical attack. Eventually got down to just Squall, and knew if I tried to rez, he'd probably end up killing me with his speed and physicals. Got a Renzokuken, and thank goodness it was the final blow. Incredibly intense. Brothers, on the other hand, wasn't too bad. Spend the time drawing Quake from the Armadodo. Slap on double and protects all around. Easy peasy. Focus on unlocking HP Bonus.

Disc 2 again wasn't too difficult. I could actually draw everything from Biggs and Wedge on this version. PSX version they hit way too hard. BGH251F2 was an absolute tyrant on the PSX version. It never made sense that his physical attack was better than his beam attack. This version's beam attack hit much harder, while the phys still hurt. This fight requires good preparation, but is still possible with a 10:00 timer, though you might have to have an overleveled Quetzl, or enough doubled thundaga magic. Oilboyles aren't too difficult. Enough firepower and you win easily. NORG, however, MUCH more difficult. Again, it seems that offense is best. Keep the orbs blue, and use powerful spells to take him down fast. Less time for orbs to go red means less meteors and ultimas. BGH251F2 again when reaching FH wasn't too difficult. He loves Quetzl, plus no timer.

And now you start drawing Ultima from the Shumi Village. EVERY chance. Scour the world for any and all items to refine into good magic. Do the Chocobo Forests, and access to CW. If you've let it run the entire time up until now, you should have a healthy stock of items. Grab Doomtrain asap (HP Bonus!) And believe it or not, take down the Tonberry King. Defend + Cover means you can't lose! However, first you draw full-life for everyone. Let the timer run out (do not run, I've read it restarts the Tonberry count), and continue to draw it until everyone has 100. (Someone can't draw because of the Defend + Cover) Then again let the timer run out, and THEN Shockwave Pulsar till he dies. You need a nearly full timer. He's got around 325,000 HP. Fujin and Raijin weren't all that bad. Fujin just uses Sai once you draw the GF from her. Protect against Raijin Special, and heal. Cerberus gave me a bit of trouble. Just keep his triple off at all costs. If he gets a triple spell off, you're dead. Seifer and Edea weren't anything special. For the most part, I think I had Ehrgeiz and Save the Queen, but that was it, and maybe a gunblade to access a better finisher, but that's it.

Disc 3 at the start again wasn't too bad. Drew Flare from Abadon. Next real boss fight is the dreaded Propagators. Really start needing the Death resistance now. Died the first time, but here I start abusing meteor. Rinoa is only level 24. Squall triples her, she does it. 2 sets of meteors drops each enemy. Might have needed a gunblade, too. Can't recall exactly.

Now's the time to start grabbing the remaining GFs. Grab Cactuar. This is where I start abusing Meteor Wing. Sometimes Vit0 just doesn't want to stick. One fight it takes 20 tries from meltdown, the next it sticks on the second try. Took 2 or 3 attempts, but Cactuar is mine (last HP Bonus!) Next Bahamut. Again, abuse Meteor Wing to defeat Behemoths. Same for Bahamut. Really not much HP for him. Fairly easy. Time to finish out the lame quests-PuPu, Obel Lake, etc.

It's at this point I grind out some levels and items, but in the end, I shortcut and just Hyne them into my inventory. I fill out any missing magic, and prepare for Ultima Weapon. I remember his fight being hard. I set Rinoa with Auto-Haste, and Mag + 30%, and maybe Auto-Protect. Don't remember the 4th-maybe Spd + 20%. Everyone else has at least Spd + 20%. He casts spells at the beginning, but then resorts to physicals and Light Pillar from then on. Meteor Wing eventually wins out. Keep everyone up with triple in case of 2 deaths. I only have Auto-Haste from Cerberus on Rinoa, so it's a tough one to keep up with Ultima's speed. Full-Life is really the only option. Either you die from Light Pillar or setting Aura on Rinoa, or you don't from the physical.

In order to keep the post a smidge shorter, I'll add another post for ...it...

Now onto THE fight. The fight that is fabled to be impossible on the PSX without savestates. It is no longer impossible (assuming it ever was in the first place). Here's my setup. (Set battle speed to slowest, of course. Make sure you used a Phoenix Pinion at some point. If you haven't, throw one early here. It's a long shot, but it could save you if things go horribly awry...but you'll probably just die anyway afterwards).

Rinoa: Magic, Revive, Item - HP + 40%, Spr + 30%, Auto-Shell, Auto-Haste. (Spr + 30% didn't seem to matter. More info below)
Squall: Magic, Defend, Item - HP + 40%, Auto-Potion, Auto-Shell, Auto-Haste (Auto-Potion seemed to be unnecessary in the end, but was an okay buffer just in case)
Quistis: Defend, Revive, Item - HP + 40%, Med Data, Auto-Shell, Auto-Haste

All had 9999 HP because of this. For my strategy, this was CRUCIAL, and may be crucial regardless.

Just some slight alterations to his attack pattern from vanilla, starting with the All-Death that bypasses resistance (but not outright immunity):

• Meteor 2: Basically a reprieve round. Just heal up to 9999.
  
• Megiddo Flame: Deals 9,998 HP damage to entire party. With everyone at full health, this is your cue to damage.
  
• Gravija: Free round to get ready.
  
• Terra Break: Gotta Defend with Squall and Quistis
  
• Ultima 2: 3000+ damage on shelled targets.
  
• Light Pillar: 9,999 HP damage to one target. Someone's dying.
  
• Various physical attacks scattered throughout. Sometimes up to 3 between the stages.

The way the fight plays out is this:

• Wait until Rinoa dies from All-Death. Meanwhile Squall self-triples. Quistis Revives Rinoa.
  
• Quistis throws Holy War. Squall casts 3x Meltdown. Rinoa waits. If Omega has attacked at all, Rinoa throws either Elixir or X-Potion to keep HP full.
  
• Omega casts Meteor 2. Rinoa or Quistis heal with Megalixir. Other waits. Squall keeps attempting Vit0 via Meltdown. If set, he waits.
  
• Rinoa and Quistis wait, keeping everyone at 9999 HP. Squall 3x Meltdown again for the Vit0. If set, he waits.
  
• Once Megiddo Flame hits, someone should be full ATB, ideally everyone. If Vit0 is not set yet, we need to wait until next round, however, continue with the strategy. Let's assume it is set.
  
  Best case scenario, All are at full ATB during Megiddo. Quistis throws a Megalixir during the animation. During the available ending animation and Squall's Auto-Potion, activate both Squall and Rinoa's (Angel Wing) FAST (assuming she isn't still under from a previous round). Squall's Auto-Potion will take away his opportunity if you are too slow. At least wait until Rinoa is almost full ATB if she isn't ready, and then use the Megalixir. You should be able to force the Limit during that animation.
  
  
• Both Quistis and Squall Defend.
  
  DO NOT RISK DOING ANYTHING. Even if Gravija hasn't occurred. Usually Omega will give you enough time between Gravija and Terra Break to activate Defend, however, not always, and all he needs is ONE opening. If you lose Squall, just use Quistis to Revive, and get everyone back up, ready for the next round. If you lose Quistis, use Squall's 3x Full-Life. Either way, you're back. However, play it safe. Those are best-case. Sometimes Omega just doesn't give you enough time get everyone back up. With all that said, back to the pattern...
  
  
• Wait for Terra Break.
  
  On rare occasions, you will get lucky. Rinoa will have survived the Terra Break. (The Holy War will keep her over 6500 HP after Gravija, and depending on Omega's whims, he may just wait long enough or physically attack the others to let her accrue over 8500 HP. This survives 3-4 hits respectively). This is fantastic, as that's more Meteors between now and the next Terra Break. However, let's assume she died.
  
  
• While Terra Break is still hitting, once you see Rinoa die, have Squall ready up a Phoenix Down on her, but don't pull the trigger. Wait and see if Angelo Reverse triggers. If it does, great. Mega Potion with both Squall and Quistis - This should allow her to survive the Ultima 2 that will be coming, but still be in critical condition. If no Angelo Reverse, use Phoenix Down with Squall, then Mega Potion with Quistis. This MAY allow her to survive the Ultima 2 that will be coming, however, sometimes she will still die. The Spr + 30% is right on the cusp of Ultima 2's damage output. Seemed like she died each time if she was Phoenix Downed + Mega Potioned. So not sure that Spr + 30% made a difference or not.
  
• If Omega physically hits Rinoa before Ultima 2, she will die, assuming she doesn't evade it. At this point, use Quistis to do Revive. We'll restart Angel Wing later. This was just another potential opportunity to get it started. Sometimes it works, usually it doesn't. Anyway, once Ultima 2 hits, if Rinoa is still alive and critical, start up Angel Wing, get ready for Light Pillar. Heal Rinoa if necessary, and be sure all three are alive and can survive a stray physical attack before Light Pillar. If that means throwing an Elixir/Megalixir, do it. This is bonus damage opportunity between now and the next Megiddo.
  
• Once Light Pillar hits, revive that person. If Rinoa isn't under Angel Wing still, use her Revive. If she is under Limit or was the target of the Light Pillar, either Squall or Quistis is fine. The other will throw another Holy War to renew for anyone who died (1 or 2 characters will need it renewed).

At this point, you repeat the above. If you hadn't set Vit0, try again. One try had me use 20+ attempts for it to stick. Usually it happens in 3-6 Meltdowns, so it's usually set in the first round. After Meteor 2, keep the HP full to survive Megiddo, start your attack, and heal. Defend the Terra. If Rinoa survives the Terra Break, or you're able to start Angel Wing again before the next round, obviously she isn't going to be healing or using Holy Wars. Use Squall and Quistis for those, and return to the strategy.

This fight is all about patience. Much like the vanilla Penance fight on FFX Int'l. It wasn't too difficult, just needed a lot of setup and discipline to maintain the battle plan. Of course, this is still much harder. I started counting the Meteors at the beginning and only got to 3 before I forgot to keep counting. Lost in the intense action and remembering where you are in the attack pattern. And hoping those stray physical attacks don't mess things up. I will say the fight for me lasted somewhere around 1.75 to 2 hours. So my guess is somewhere around 1.5 to 2.0 million HP.

Sometimes Omega will just sit there. And sit there. There were a few times where Rinoa got 3 meteors (once she got 4!) before Omega did a single attack, (either a defined phase or just an intermittent physical). Those are great times. Do not stray from the pattern above during these situations!

I don't know if it helps, but the regen ticking from the Holy Wars seemed to cause delays in his attacking. Omega seemed to be attacking with great frequency near the beginning of the battle, but after that, he had those strange lulls of non-activity. Not sure if the regen caused that.

This was my 5th or 6th attempt. A previous one I had taken about 700000 away in about 40 minutes. Managed to keep track during that one. Gave up for the night, and thought about a new strategy before sleeping. My solution was Med Data and another Revive. It worked. At one point during this fight, I had Lionheart activate. And I figured it had to be close, because it was near 90 or so minutes in. It ALMOST was the finisher. Only 1 or 2 more Meteors finished the job. Would've been a cool way to end the fight had it been Lionheart.

Just gave Ultimecia a shot. Got through to phase 4. Fairly lucky on the magic removals along with a Phoenix revive on some bad luck. Worst that got blown away was a Evade junction (Tornado) and later a S-Def (Full-Life). Ultimecia's lower half popped out eventually. Drew Apocalypse, and a turn later blasted me with it. Figured I'd be fine...I had full health (one with 9999, rest with about 7000), Auto-Shell, and my Spirit junctions were still intact to my knowledge (Reflect).

9999 damage to everyone.

...Well...there went about 90 minutes down the drain. Do I need to annihilate the lower half before she draws it or is that even possible? Did I just see things wrong? I surely hope I'm not basically praying for a Phoenix revive from RNGeezus each time it's used.

Took on the final fight last night again. Took out a few of the Auto-Protect and opted for either a HP+40% or Str or Mag + 30% (depending on character). I would just Holy War for the Protect. Irvine, Quistis, and Selphie were designated backups with Auto-Protect. Squall, Zell, and Rinoa were damage dealers without Auto-Protect.

Had Quistis, Squall, and Irvine. First stage went by in 10 minutes. Triple-Flared with Squall/Irvine. Easy.

Griever came out. Blew away a few magics, but nothing important. Drew a Death from Irvine, so he would succumb to All-Death later. About 15 minutes later, he caved.

Ultimecia & Griever then came. Since I had the 9999 HP, I could tank Great Attractor - (for some reason, never noticed Shockwave Pulsar and Great Attractor came when the background shook and panned by until now). Again, no bad magics taken away - worst was Irvine's Aura (Luck). Once the bottom came off, I kept Triple-Flaring, not expecting it to take as long as it did. Then I got a hiccup. Realized that all of the physical attacks were auto-critical for her. At one point, Quistis had just taken a hit. Then Squall's Protect wore off, and he immediately got hit and died. Then Quistis got hit and died. And for some stupid reason, I was a moron, and didn't use a Mega Phoenix or Pinion. I basically panicked. I got Squall back up, but by the time I could get to Quistis, she was taken from me. Dangit. Wanted her Mighty Guard for the final battle for the potential Aura status. So Zell came in. Over the course, Irvine kept dying from All-Death, but kept him alive to absorb the potential magic removals. Eventually finished this portion, took about 45 minutes (longer than it should have).

Final battle:
Because of Hell's Judgment, use Zell and Squall's limits and Irvine uses Megalixir. Zell lost a magic somewhat important, but nothing critical (can't remember what). First half of the fight, generally just follow that pattern. Every so often early on, Irvine dies a few times. Eventually I let him be removed. Enter Rinoa. Immediately try to Aura her to get Meteor Wing going, and I do. Zell is now designated healer. Squall at some point loses Full-Life (D-St). So now it's just a waiting game. Squall does Renzo, Rinoa does her thing. Eventually the lower half comes out. She draws Apocalypse. I decide to try to have a GF take the brunt. Wasn't sure if she'd blow it away or not. She did. So that strategy doesn't work. Eventually she casts it. And everyone dies.

But this time I have Rinoa, and get Angelo Reverse. And her next move, she blows away Rinoa's Triple (Spd). Well crud. Rinoa throws a Pinion to get everyone back, and everyone gets back to their jobs. Soon after, the next magic to be blown away is Squall's Ultima (Str). Friggin...! Renzo still does about 2200 per hit, but it's a far cry from the 5000 it was doing before. I do my best to target the lower half to get rid of it, and it dies at some point. Not sure if it goes away by itself, or I killed it. If I killed it, it must have a fairly low amount of HP. All of this is okay now since Apocalypse is no longer a threat. Eventually she dies. This portion took about 30 minutes. Sped along due to limits and Meteor Wing.

Dunno about others, but with this mod, Ultimecia feels a LOT more like a worthy adversary, and just an overall better villain. There was a much higher sense of satisfaction upon finishing this than I remember from vanilla playthroughs, even the first playthrough.

Now onto my overall thoughts about the mod:

1. I generally preferred this version over the PSX version. The fixed levels here made the entire game seem drastically different in terms of available magic, and thus strategy. Many magics can't be obtained until disc 3 basically, or if earlier, it is SO difficult, it's not worth the effort (Fury Fragments). I'll admit I didn't even care about Defend or Cover in Vanilla. Here they are useful, sometimes necessary.

2. One one hand, I appreciated the lower benefits of each junction. Overall I think it worked well. On the other hand, this also had some negatives. One glaring negative was the inability to properly protect against anything, especially early on - best you can do is 50% pretty much. Heck, are Malboros even possible, even late in the game, without the Ribbon ability (usually from Chocobo World)? In addition, the inability to fully protect against death until Holy was acquirable LATE in the game (earliest for me was after the Lunar Cry, excepting CW). And late game, you needed Death protection most of the time, which meant the rest of your Status Defense was pretty vulnerable, so that kind of sucked. I would have liked to protect against Curse in the Ultimecia fight, but couldn't because Death immunity was required.

3. Aura - a bit controversial. I'm at odds with it myself. Obviously it's powerful. But the death that results from it on occasion was very nettlesome. And the misses were just as irksome. It kept me from using it against regular enemies, but would have been helpful nonetheless if it had been more reliable. Constant misses or deaths during an Ultima/Omega/Ultimecia fight can end the game. I learned to always Aura the caster, and have another character on standby in case death occurs. Hmmm...I suppose if that's my thoughts on it, maybe just up the success rate a smidgen.

4. Back to junctions, it seems that Strength is left in the dust (maybe due to enemy Def as well). Triple casting magic becomes the only mode of damage dealing, aside from intermittent Limits due to low HP. But you can't leave HP low for long. And even then strength-based limits still feel inferior to triple casting. Strength finally makes a roaring comeback near the end once Meltdown becomes necessary and enemies have so much HP that you practically need those physical limits to move the fight along faster.

5. Zell's limit. I don't know if it's me or what, but I can't abuse his limit very well on the PC version. I had been known to get inputs in .06 seconds on the PSX. This time it was lucky to get a .1 duration. Longer inputs required much more time. Mach Kick took about .3 - .5 for me. Something to do with the input limits for the game? Due to those constraints, he may need a slight boost in power on those hits. (I had the same issue with the GF boosting. Best boost I could get on the starting 3 was around 135.)

6. Selphie's limit. Other than Wall, her limit seems to be largely useless. It was okay early on, especially against Diablos, but quickly became outclassed, especially once Double became available. I'd possibly suggest a higher chance of Wall, but perhaps a lower duration to offset it. Maybe more Ultima 2/Meteor 2 as well, with multiple castings if possible.

7. Omega had maybe too much HP. 90-120 minutes for that fight seems a tad excessive. And it sucks when you're 60-90 in and have some bad luck. I figured out a good strategy, and managed to execute. But sticking to that plan for that long invites the opportunity for luck to kick your ass.

8. Ultimecia's Apocalypse. Is it possible to destroy the lower half before she draws the Apocalypse? You might need some serious luck from a Lionheart or most Meteor Wing hits blasting it, and maybe going all-in with the third character's limit. I'm guessing she'll always cast it once it's drawn. So if Apocalypse is inevitable, how does one guard against it? Certainly luck isn't the deciding factor here. What did I miss? I'm hoping that surviving this fight doesn't hinge on whether Phoenix or Angelo Reverse activates. Otherwise we're rolling the dice on whether the previous hour was a waste of time.

9. Chocobo World seemed like a necessity. The Auto-Protect and Shell made things a LOT easier. Fights prior to that seemed like a lot of excessive death and rezzing cycles. Also helped getting Doomtrain started early.

Landon, thank you for an overall excellent and fun mod. It was brutal at times (early Diablos and early Tonberry King, Ultima, Omega, Ultimecia), but nothing a good bit of preparation and careful execution couldn't handle.

On the PSX version of this mod Omega was random except for the All Death meaning you had to be ready to tank Terra Break and Megido Flame at anytime not only that but also :
-Metldown don't inflict Vit0 on the PSX version meaning you had to resort to Limit Break to inflict it
-HP Bonus was removed meaning only Squall could get 9999HP with 100 Ultima to HP and only one HP+40% everyone else has to have an additionnal HP + XX% to have 9999 (It was possible to eat Ruby Dragons to have 9999 but it takes ages)

On a side note I test out on the PSX version I try after giving my character 9999 base max HP with codes (I don't considere this cheating since this is possible just takes ridiculusly long), I believe it is possible to beat (I was able to tank for roughly 1 hour) him without savestate but you need to be lucky and you have no room for error, but your main concern on the PSX version when you have the max HP is time the fight is ridiculusly long (he has 2320000HP) and eventually you will run out of healing option.
