As my focus shifts beyond v9 and Armageddon itself, I'm taking an interest in upgrading the Lazy Shell editor rather than creating my own from scratch. Improvements would include better memory management, more dynamic options, more complete coverage, and of course an actual assembly editor. As an example of a dynamic option, the current editor cannot handle Armageddon's level bonuses as there are more than 30 (and likely in a different location in memory). As another example, it cannot properly represent 16-bit attack and magic attack for monsters.

Thus far, I've found a git respository with all the source for an unreleased v4.0.1b, and I've successfully been able to modify it such that the 8th status effect (rage?) is visible/modifiable in the checkboxes. I can of course proceed like this to achieve my goals, but it's always good to share and get feedback. At some point I'll likely upload my own version similar to what jpmac26 did or merge it back into the main version if possible.

With all that in mind, does anyone know what the current status of Lazy Shell is?

I used it, I was making my own remake of Super Mario RPG with (SFC) ROM File, you can edit Super Mario RPG Game ROM File with either SMC or SFC ROM Files. Wish you luck if you are going to upgrade it, there is a source code file for Lazy Shell Editor all you got to do is Google it.

Are you talking about the version of Lazy Shell editor?. Well the latest version was 3.19.0

As I linked, there's an unreleased v4.0.1b. I'm not sure what all the differences are from v3.19.0, though.

From my understanding, it's been abandoned by the original creators, but someone by the name of jpmac26 currently maintains an unofficial version. Do they frequent this forum?

Do you guys know about Justin3009's 6mb expansion project? Essentially, he's updating the ROM to include more playable characters (up to 8), increasing byte caps to use 2-bytes instead of 1 for all stats (exception is EXP, which would use 3 bytes), letting Speed become level-up-able, among many others. Here is the thread he made on SMWC:

He's also working on expanding LazyShell to work with the new ROM, so if you guys want to hit him up, see what you guys can come up with.
