I think we need to drop feminism and men's rights all together. Focusing on just one group won't get us anywhere and further divides people. If you want equal rights you must also pursue equal responsibility. Women SHOULD be required to sign up for selective service to vote. If you can join the military then you can be up for selective service. Men still HAVE to sign up if they want to vote and women don't.

That is just one thing out of a few imbalances out of many. The point is that we as people should strive for not just benefits but the so called negatives called responsibility that comes with said benefits. At the end of the day though I think most people just want things to be "fair" and like most parents have told you growing up (I hope your parents said this as I know mine did ad nauseam) that things will NEVER be truly equal but making it a bit more level is something to shoot for as long as it is level for the whole.

When you focus on just one side then imbalances start forming and it starts division everywhere.

To be fair, that same host on MSBNC did a retake of it when she got a lot of twitter responses linking her to the Forbes article calling it a consumer movement, and telling her that calling all gamers in GamerGate misogynists is like calling all of Islam terrorists. Which is literally the exact same fucking thing. :lol:

Fair point, but the problem there is that the entire term in and of itself has been hijacked by that same fringe.

Which is why I prefer the term "Gender Equality" over "Feminism."

Edit: It's also why #NotYourShield exists, if I were to take a guess.

I have mixed feelings about that, because I read it and the serious side of me goes "exactly!" but then I remember it's a sister site to The Onion and I wonder if that part is genuinely designed to be satire like the rest. :lol:

Obviously they're floundering their own journalistic integrity which is the joke, but then they're also pointing out the hypocrisy of the movement -- if it's not about misogyny and its about journalistic integrity, then why be misogynistic and stifle journalism when its suddenly under the spotlight?

It's not about misogyny, and it never has been. The only people saying it's about misogyny are:

a) The journalists and game developers trying to straw-man us (SJWs fall in this category as well), and

b) The absolute fringe of GG/NotYourShield, which is very misogynistic (in which case they wouldn't say it's about misogyny of course, but in their case it very much is)

Who exactly is stifling journalism? The majority of pieces you actually see about or in response to GamerGate isn't journalism, it's propaganda.

I would suggest reading this article, which is the only one I know of to have secured an interview with a prominent voice from both sides of the issue.
