pretty hot stuff, but under that cool guy exterior is a hard blooded killer. lets look at what hes made of first of all
A cool green Shell!
A shylish design!
No weaknesses!
Lethal full party attacks!
Very low HP!
A bit hit with the ladies!
so how do we deal with a guy like this? alright, now lets get a little more serious. this guy is a 2 part cycle boss, this refers to the boss doing always the same moves time and again. UNFORTUNATLY the bottom seems to have 1 less speed then the top, so after a long battle, the cycle will get out of sync. lets first analize his abilities, during the cycle at the start of the battle. this data assumed you have max MDF on all characters fighting.
-From the bottom-
Illuminati 3 (Killer) (Top) (4k damage)
Ice 2 (Weak) (Bottom)
dark ball attack? (Weak) (Top)
Fire 2 (Weak) (Bottom)
Water 3 (Killer) (Top) (note this does only 1.2k damage! very important!)
Light 2 (Weak) (Bottom)
mutant gas / poison (Weak) (Top) Shadow? (not that it matters)
physical (weak) (Bottom)
now if you notice, the top half is FAR more
Now lets review character viability for the various characters you have access to, reminder that this is meant to be a relatively fool proof strategy, and so will will be looking based upon the strategy, not other strategies.
Chrono: The hero of our story, access to Life, good if you put some Mag tabs on him. the rest of his kit is kinda useless.
Marle: she knows life 2 she also has haste, healing and other cool stuff that if you take one second to look at you will be OHKO'd before you get the spell off.
Lucca: well, she has protect, but thats completly useless, she has damage, but you don't have time for real offencive techs, even at max speed. shes basically trash.
Robo: also pretty bad, but he does have AOE healing!
Frog: AOE healing, the masamune, and a swag victory pose. basically robo but better, depending on magic tab allocation.
Magus: He has magic wall, and a pretty good offence spell right next to it! not a bad choice, tho very situational.
Now then. From this posse of misfit heros, we will be taking Chrono and Marle, Life and Life 2 are quite literally the life of the party, and 100% mandatory to beat this guy, if all else is failing for you. your third member is a choice between Frog, Robo, and Magus. Magus isn't very helpful unless you REALLY need to magic wall to survive hexagon mist, and you really dont need to. so its more so a split between Frog and Robo. Both of them have their AOE healing ability RIGHT next to their Heavy damage ability, so its personal preference. I'm gonna take frog, cause his victory pose is superior.
Now lets take a look at various Equipts
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Weapons:
Chrono: The Slasher 2 has a 80% crit rate, and higher attack, while the rainbow has 4x damage, but slightly lower attack. i take slasher 2 for this strategy, but use rainbow if you would like. if you do not own either, simply use your best weapon.
Marle: Her weapons all kinda suck, so just use whatever does the most damage.
Frog/Robo: Use the best weapon you have. However if you have the upgraded Masamune, most DEFIANTLY use frog. the damage is just better!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Helms & Body:
Now were getting to the important part. for this part, I'm going to assume you don't have all the best stuff, altho you really, really should. I'm not going to assume you have any missables, but i'm certinly going to assume you have atleast one copy of the not missables!
For Chrono, were going to use a Haste helm, if you have it, and a Blue Mail. Its quite important he has the Haste helm, altho not required, he will almost always be the only one alive after this attack, unless you have prism helms, but for the sake of assuming you took a prism dress and missed the helms. even if you have prism helms, a haste helm is STILL BETTER!
For Marle, give her a White mail, and if you have one, a Prism Helm. using the prism helm will negate the usefull of magus, so don't include him if she is wearing one. Wearing a prism helm will allow marle to sruvive Hexagon mist if she is at full HP (999) but for the purpses of this strategy, we will assume that she is either not wearing one, or you do not have time to heal her during the intense battle. Simply give her the best helm you can.
For Frog/Robo, If you have one, a second white mail! however its possible to miss one of the two white mails, so if you don't have it, the white vest. altho honestly, if you don't have this its gonna be a little harder. If you have a secon blue mail you can use that, if you only have 1 white and blue mail each, just use a white vest. altho honestly a white vest isn't that useful.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Accessories:
For two of your members, give them the Rage and Frenzy bands. these items are NOT missable, tho you may have simply not aquired them, if not go get them. they allow your characters to counter attack. as for the third person, give them whatever you like. i have marle a power seal to increase her defence closer to max, not that defence matters much.
additionally/ alternatly, if your a high level team, consider making your third member or marle use the sight scope! this handy item lucca has at the start of the game tells you enemies HP, and if the boss's top is low, nuke it with everything you got!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------The Battle strategy!-------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
First, make sure you have a supply of around 30 elixers. yes, ELIXERS, not hi ethers or something. if your using a turn to restore mana, you still need to not die, so elixers are important. pretty much everything drops them, so just go hunting. you may have 50~99 of them already depending on how much you grinded.
During the intro of the battle, the first or second thing to occur, the top will cast his full party kill spell for 4k damage at max MDEF, Marle should absorb this, and follow up by reviving Chrono with Life 2. the boss will do some other attacks, simply keep chrono alive. eventually he will cast hexagon mist, and kill everyone except chrono. This is where things get tricky. Chrono must focus on reviving and keeping marle alive. you have a full combat round before he casts illumanti from here, so you can opt to not revive her right away, and wait untill after being hit with Mutant gas/poison. but there isnt to much point, as sometimes marle can survive the attack. (expecially with a prism helm.)
from theres its just repeat. Chrono spams Life on Marle, and Marle spams Life 2 on Chrono. chrono and marle should have very high speed, make sure you use your speed tabs on them, and eventually the boss will die of counter attacks. the boss doesn't have very much HP (about 5k top and bottom)
if you feel your low on MP, use a elixer on yourself after being hit with light3/water3 and before reviving your ally. you will survive the next round, and have time to revive them before water/light3 is cast. assuming your not very very slow. if you axidentally revive the third member, they know AOE healing and will heal either marle/chrono to give them another turn. if the third member is the last alive, just use revives on whoever is gonna absorb the next major light3/water3 and you will be fine.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tips:
go into the options menu and make SURE to turn on various battle memory settings, if you do this, when it becomes marles turn, the cursor will be on TECH, and when you press A, it will be on LIFE 2! this means for chrono/marles turns you can literally mash A and win the fight. the cursor will remember what item it last used to!
When using the above, do NOT cast ANY other spell then life/Life 2. each battle tick of time is very important, and getting them off ASAP to survive is very important!
If you need to heal, again do NOT cast a healing spell with marle, instead, go into items and use a elixer! it will not only restore all your HP, but your MP as well, and keeps you alive. the cursor will also remember you used elixer last, and you can just go items -> mash A! the target of a item will always default be the user.
If you find your third member dead far more so then the potentiall bad but added damage marle could do, give her the rage band instead!
make sure your high enough level for everyone to have 999 HP! and preferably 99 Mp as well, along with max MDF.
Consider going into options and slowing down the sleep of battle, so you can have more time to get your ability off faster! along with this, consider changing the battle system from real time to turn based if your having a real hard time.
reorganize your inventory so revives, elixers, and possibly megalixers are all next to eachother at the top.
While in the options menu, change the window color to 5, seeing the bosses color all over your menus will encourage you to fight on! (maybe) you can also save the game to give the save file a color! even make your save screen a mini rainbow by saving different colors into all the save slots
seriously consider the sight scope as an accessory, it will tell you when the top part of the boss is low on HP and ready to be nuked. note the bottom only has weak attacks, and hexagon mist and illuminati are only cast by the top, so if its dead your home free! plus its counter doesn't actually do damage.
Consider beating Spekkio (the guy at the end of time) for some magic tabs, give them to chrono so he can revive people with more HP!
The tubsters in the black omen charm speed tabs. load your characters with all 16 speed!
