Had a problem with Skull Train today. Latest version downloaded (few days ago). Mr. Grimm upon being defeated kept reraising over and over, making me think I had to kill Skull Train then VERY quickly kill Mr. Grimm, since Skull Train kept being revived via non animation Life spell. After losing this fight a few times, I won it finally when Mr. Grimm failed to reraise after his first death. I was told on ID chat he's not supposed to reraise, and only revive Skull Train.
Also, my game didn't glitch saying "No" 3 times to Astral, by the way. Saw Satarack's topic about it. May be an emulator issue, but I'm on PSP with SNES9x tyl

Ah yes, Grimm re-gains his Life 3 status after his AI resets back to the start, which is after he does 4 attacks. It seems kinda unfair now think about it some more...but yeah I did that to just make him possibly last longer, those 'characters acting as monster' otherwise can be offed very fast. I could run it off a timer instead though, which might be more reasonable. In any event though yeah once he comes back with Life 3, he should be weak so just smack him up/focus fire on him and he will die for good.

Yeah, I did that immediately a few times (he had 233 or so HP each time, so Havoc or something ended him) and each time he came back, which was what was confusing people on chat, because he didn't do 4 attacks inbetween. Then the time I killed him permanently, I killed him once then Ronan counter killed him and never revived after. Not sure if he got 4 rounds in, but after the very first time battling him, he definitely wasn't getting 4 in. So, no idea what's going on there. I won, though, just a hell of a fight, especially low on Pizza and resorting to Rib-eyes.
Edit: Just re-tested the fight, he seems to be working now. Killed->Revived->Galick Gun immediately and he's staying dead. No idea how he revived a few times rapidly the first time I battled him. It definitely happened, because I was annoyed thinking I'd have to kill Skull Train, but then upon seeing Skull Train revive...yeah...figured both die at the same time or something.

Ah I understand. Huh I'll take a look into it, could be an issue in there with something resetting his AI to the start putting back on the status before it should. Will take a look, thanks for the report! I'll probably end up adding a variable to it to control it more.

No problem, sorry if you find nothing wrong and it was me missing things while fighting/being stupid. The only solution I can think of, is does him attacking, followed by doing Cure immediately=2 moves, or 1? If so, MAYBE that's what it was then for the 4 moves before I could kill him. Although I was killing him pretty quickly, I don't know what constitutes as 1 move in the script for him.

Does the AI restart to the beginning after an enemy is killed and revived? I think I was abusing something similar against Dark Cloud by killing its lives so fast that it never reached the later parts of the script.

Yeah that it does, when the HP is gone and the 'extra lives' bit kicks in, it will restart from the beginning... SO, maybe that's exactly what it's doing for Grimm there, giving him Life 3 right off the bat once it's AI is read. Meaning you'd have to kill him off before his first move. It's possible this is happening, I'm not 100% sure though without testing if Life 3 status restarts the script as well, or leaves off where it was. Probably the former, sounds like.

Yeah, the same thing happened to me against Kefka at Sealed Gate - he kept reviving and I couldn't keep him down.
Speaking of Reraise, Dispel doesn't remove that status, does it?

I'll look into controlling it better for Kefka as well.
Yes Dispel does not remove Life 3 status anymore.
