Insane Difficulty: Secret NC Program - the Insane Difficulty Challenge - Insane Difficulty

My dream has come true for this hack.

I'm now able to control which formations get locked behind a Navi Customizer. In vanilla, these are used for the player to get Fire Encounters on the Hospital Comps, and the infamous IceBall M chip for Mamoru. This is changing in my mod.

One of the 4 NC Programs (Jungle), is getting renamed. So far the name candidates for this new program are:

• Wrath
  
• Rank#1
  
• UndrKing

What this new program will do is lock special battle formations, each one being one hell of a challenge. Anything can be behind them, from a single Navi, to multiple Navis, to combination of Navis, Bosses... Absolutely anything. Needless to say, I'll try and make the description of the program mark it very clear that it is for optional challenges. Keep in mind that these formations are absolutely invisible to the player until he equips the NC Program, making it absolutely optional. There are no prices on doing this, more than your ego boost.

But! I want to brainstorm with you guys! First of all. When/where should this program be given? After defeating Serenade, perhaps? (One of the 2 UnderNet7 BMDs) Or perhaps before, say in the UnderSquare? Or perhaps even farther ahead, after defeating BassGS? (In the UnderNet7 BMD, unlcoked after defeating him). I need your opinions on this!!

Also, another question for you. Where should these encounters be, and how many of them per area? I could do several things here:

• I could add 1 of these challenge formations per single area in the game, including small comps.
  
• I could add 1 formation per Network area, that is, everything except for small comps. That'd be ACDC, SciLab, Yoka, Beach, UnderNet, Principal's, Zoo, HospComp, WWW, Secret Area).
  
• I could add 1 formation per Internet area (ACDC, SciLab, Yoka, Beach, UnderNet, Secret area).
  
• I could add 2 formations per Internet area (this is because 1 formation is too little, only being 19 battles. 38 is a lot more reasonable number).

So please, let me know what you guys think!! This part of the mod is one of the most important ones, it is my gift to the veterans who want the ultimate challenge!

this sounds interesting for fucking sure, this sounds like it will be a lot of fun, would like to see something like this done to the later battle network games too.

Ok my opinions are, something like this should be avaialble before the end of the game, like some point before the very last area(being when you fight alpha)or on the other hand give access to it right after that point for people who want to try them before going to the secret area. you do not want to give it as late as bass though, you should have it accessable to those who want to challenge it before heading too far in the secret area

Concerning how many there should be, the second option or the fourth option sound good to me. Having a formation in every single area might get a little annoying if you happen to have that thing equipped to run into those enemies completely by accident. But on the other hand, having them 1 formation per every internet site seems too short(if im reading this right that means theres only 6 special formations in the whole game, which is really short). So yea definitely go with one of the other two.

So far, I'm thinking I'm gonna go with the second option, 1 battle per network area. What you're missing here is that I'll be ading a special formation for each part of each network - an encounter for ACDC1, an encounter for ACDC2, etc. That gives me more than 30 encounters to work with, more than enough for my plans.

And you will get it as a reward for beating Serenade in a BMD in UnderNet 7.

There's one security pillar to go Serenade, the rest are optional. The one thing that I wanna mod is the 200 standard chips requirement. I want to make it to 120 or so.

about those security pillars, as long as even one of them are mandatory, can you possibly make running from them possible? its obnoxious to have to restart the game just to try them again

That sounds awesome. Honestly, that sounds like something that should open up after every sidequest on the boards can be done. That's when I'd open them up.

assuming you could do this for each area of the internet, then you could scale the fights based on their location as well, so as to give players a sense of progression (ex ACDC's are easier than Beach's), if you so choose.

this is a veritable playground. cant wait to see what u make with it

Hmm, not sure how I feel about the size of that navicust piece. If these are supposed to be the hardest fights in the game, then I wouldn't want to be severely gimped by having my navicust taken up by Rank#1. Will the piece be smaller, like 1 block, or is crippling the navicust supposed to be part of the challenge?

I was in a bit of haste when I took the pic, the program can be compressed into a L form. And yes, it's supposed to be part of the challenge, for which I made it fit with HubBatch as well.

However, you'll be happy to know that the sizes of the NCP had a buff on most of them.

I understand that this project is on hold, but I'd really like to have at least this program released!
