Having finished this game only once, and having no deep knowledge of how things work i've been attracted to this patch, since im taking a break from the merciless beating that is FFT 1.3. as always i was planning to pick my favorite boys and give it a go, but i know i couldnt do it since it is labeled hard type,so to take a glance of how my last team was going to fare against the improved system i loaded my lvl 20 save file in the patch and things gone pretty abyssal, maybe perhaps i should have progressed differently than this if i were on the hard game since the beggining which made me think about my party composition and the role that each stat should play off:
so i have Duran as Knight,Riese as the Valkyrie and Angela as sorceress.
They can't kill anything worth of note in the hard type due to abyssal low damage they all input and the very high damage they receive, so i ask you:
Is it because of the point i've loaded and the diferences of the hard type and the normal game? or it is because of my bad choices/movement? also their HP very low, i know the hp growth was nerfed but Angela with 8 vit having almost the same hp than duran with 12 seem pretty whacky for me, is it normal and i should have invested more in vit on duran?

If you kept going where you saved in vanilla you would probably face off against enemies almost twice your level - and levels are taken a bit more serious than in vanilla.
Also because of a couple bugs the game has I have to track your actual level myself. Needless to say this isn't active in a vanilla savegame.
Attack, defense, HP, basically everything is calculated based upon this level and you'd have a value close to 0 in it giving you very bad values overall.
VIT straight up adds 1.5 HP and doesn't really matter for health, but more for defense.

On the vanilla save, as you made your point the games are just too different, hard type is just in another level and by leveling my trio once they got recalibrated and started to act as if they were characters from the hard type, riese and duran started dealing 35~40 damage and duran was able to take to 3 to 2 hits before going down(against a single sahagin lvl 30) and i kinda get relieved that my patch is working properly. and i noticed that in the armors excel file there is this heavy/light/medium thing so i ask you what should i expect from that? i didnt understand much but it seem that every piece of armor seem to be meant to be usable until the end of game. also how does weapons work? i didnt find any read me explaining the weapons.
Thanks in advance and again point me if this was already explained and sorry for bothering

Also, not all weapons/armors are useful the entire game but at least most.
E.g. Mad Beast's Fang (accessoire with +60 HP) will be kinda pointless when everyone already has 800+ HP and you have someone who nows Life Booster (+25% maxHP).

In the light/medium and heavy it means that the armor/weapon scales better with stats?

Slightly higher scaling with stats and slightly higher flat value.
Something like light: 240, medium: 270, heavy: 300 at high levels&stats. Will vary by what other bonuses you get, defense soft cap, etc.

I'd have to look the exact factor up later, but the difference for the stat factors isn't that big, it's just increased a bit by a level factor.
But yes, heavy has always (slightly) higher factor for stats and a bit better base value than the lower values, it's mostly linear.

Things like attack calculation will only be written when I'm confident that it is "perfect enough" to avoid confusion from changing that math every 2 weeks xD. But stuff like "heavier armor = more defense" should be simple enough imo.
and who reads 100 page topics (completely) anyway for one or two questions
Anyway, just ask away.

Also gotta think about a way to deal with this chain magic it does, if it doesn't target its second magic on Angela its a dead character

No, do you know after what attack or action it happens? Did it happen on retries too?

Every stat up and the respective stat down counterpart cancel each other.
If you had both stat X up AND stat X down at the same time bad things tend to happen.

Are your other characters weak to wind? If so, there's an armor in Byzel that removes the weakness. Or you could wear up to 6x Red Moon Horn.

And for the future, if a bug happens always keep the last save before it, better save than sorry.
