Problems with the Veldt

So I've decided to use Gau this playthrough. I've finished Zozo and wanted to get the Harvester rage so Gau can heal. Welp. NONE of the Zozo formation appeared in the Veldt. I was there for over an hour at 5x speed. Do I have to advance further to unlock the formations? Is there a detailed list of where the rages are? Mostly though, I'm concerned about the limited fights in the Veldt.
