Hi. I have been a lurker for Insane Difficulty for a while. I have played some of the dark souls mods and such. But I was wondering if. it's possible to install this mod to a steam/pc version?

After 25 hours of gameplay with NT, I feel obliged to review it and to give some feedback for this gigantic mod.

First of all, I'll introduce myself so that you have a better understanding on my point of view toward NT. I'm a big nerd, a FF and JRPG in general lover and I appreciate modding my favourite games, from Mount and Blade to Fallout 4. I also really like when games give me challenge, so 75% of the time, I mod to add difficulty to the game, but at the same time, I hate it when an overhaul changes the nature of the gameplay itself. Basically, it's a hit or miss for me with JRPG mods, since I want the game to feel new but without losing what I liked during the vanilla experience. For exemple, the Unleash mod for FF IX (the greatest RPG of all time) did not feel right to me : with the downscaling of the characters/weapons, the difficulty of the battles, the spongy HP of the enemies, it just felt like a burden to me. New Threat offers so much more and this is why it's now my favourite JRPG mod.

Yes, NT can be harsh at first and even unfair by moments, but what is brillant about it is the fact that when you confront a great challenge, the mod also give you the tools to overcome it. Strangely, I never feel cheated when I lose to a boss, I never want to quit playing after I failed. Au contraire, I want to confront it again, identify the boss weaknesses, go back to my inventory/materia, and prepare myself again to face the enemy. NT is a great experience and something quite unique for any FFVII veteran because it really feels like a whole new game. You can never be too prepared, you cannot mash Attack/Limit Break, etc. In many ways, I played NT like I play Dark Souls, never to cautious, you should not underestimate any random battles or any mini-boss. And in the end, you feel satisfied when the enemy vanish, just like when you get rid of a powerful foe in DS.

Finally, a word on the party building. WOW. This is wicked sick. The first two times I played FF VII, my party consisted of Cloud, Red XIII and Tifa. Why ? Why not ! In the vanilla game, you pick of characters really does not matter at all since the game is quite easy and because there's no big difference between them. In NT, you really have to think about the role of each character and what orientation you want to give your team. Since I wanted something different, I went with Cloud (Tank/ support mage), Yuffie (Rogue, crits, dex) and Aeris (Offense caster) and it really feels perfect for me since I wanted a somewhat classic rpg team. But there's so many combinations that you can create with your team. On this point, you should take a good look through the documentation in the RAR so you can start developing the character you're interested in at the very start of the game.

Anyway, I think that this mod is perfect and if I took some time to write this, (I hate writing in english because I'm not a native speaker) its mainly to say thank you to the creator. You did an excellent work and I hope a lot of people re-discover FF VII thanks to you.
