I recently came across this gem of a hack and wanted to say terrific job on every aspect about it. I myself, am not very far though, just beat Mack for the first star. I have to admit that I generally don't play increased difficulty hacks due to the fact of I just suck at hard(er) games but this definitely caught my attention when I came upon it. I'm playing the easy mode where as my friend is playing the hard mode 'cuz he's far more accustom to harder games and rpgs in general.

That said, I do have a few questions:

• Is there any up to date walkthroughs?
  
  (All the ones I keep finding on youtube are previous versions and are vastly different. I don't want to miss anything period, especially all the hidden stuff.)
  
  
• Is there any sort of cheats or game genie cheats that times all the hits, including the second timing perfectly? If not, is there at least say an infinite coin one?
  
  (I know cheats would defeat the purpose of the harder difficulty but at least I'm trying to retain some aspect of it and not asking for like an infinite health cheat. Though if there is one as well, feel free to share.)
  
  
• This question is more so about the emulator 'cuz I've never used it until this hack. I always used the ZSNES but the turbo mode on the SNES9X or the button you hold down rather, is there a way to make it where it's a toggle and you don't have to hold it down?
  
  
• Is there a leveling up guide?
  
  (I've read posts of where you mostly focus on HP due to some bosses can one shot you and I even told my friend this but he's stubborn and hasn't even touched his health once and he just finished the Moleville mines on hard mode.)

I do have a suggestion although it's probably been mentioned countless times. I realize the timed hits is what made the Mario RPG combat system unique but could there perhaps say be a side version where the timed hits are taken out and just your regular basic attack would do the same damage as your timed second hit? I know it'd make the hacks far easier but I just can't time the second hit for the life of me. Had no problems on Rosalina but that was about it. I can always manage the second highest amount of damages with it but never the highest.

I guess technically I could request that just your first timed hit do the damages of the second but I was requesting the timed stuff to be removed 'cuz I always been curious, even as a kid, what the game would be like if you took out the timed hits. Way I see it, it'd be easier attacking wise but then you couldn't block anything so it would still retain a level of hardness unless there is a boss where timing your timed hit blocks are a must.

Since you're talking about "easy" and "hard", I'm assuming you're talking about v8. If so, here's some useful threads:

I don't know of any game genie cheats, but there's an item called "Found Illusion" that times most attacks for you. It's very hard to obtain this item though, so use it sparingly!

You're using SNES9x v1.53, yes? In the hotkey settings, there's a turbo toggle key on the third page.

The leveling up guide for v8 is basically all HP. While it's not REQUIRED per-se, the hardest bosses in the game will be nearly impossible if you don't have enough HP to tank their super attacks. These attacks are always physical, so the only bonus that helps you survive them is HP. There's also no respec feature in v8, so your friend will really be missing that HP when he fights , , and . In v8 easy, though, you can level whatever you want and it'll be fine.

As far as the 2nd timed hits go, all I can say is practice! Most people like the 2nd hits, so I highly doubt they're going anywhere. I will say that whether you get the maximum damage or the 2nd highest depends on how well you time the FIRST hit... never the second.

I maybe a little confused. Based on how well you time the first hit? You hit the button twice for the second hit so how's it based on the first hit? First hitting was what you did in the original?

There are two different hits you must press. The second one is referred to as the "2nd timing" and you either get it or you don't. The first one is the same as in the original: there is a "normal" window and a smaller "perfect" window. Pressing within the perfect window is how you deal maximum damage.

There is a sort of in-game timing cheat that does all timings automatically.
It's done through the use of a single-use item called Found Illusion that does all attack and defend timings for you for the rest of a battle, though it doesn't work for a select few super bosses and the item itself is pretty rare.

You could edit a store to contain these items with the Lazy Shell editor so you have access to them all the time. (There's two in the editor, you want the one with an item description.)
Though it probably wouldn't be too convenient if you're wanting it for every fight and not just for boss fights, though in theory you could also check the "reusable" flag for it so you can carry just one with you and use it over and over, but I'm not sure what bugs it might cause.
Though worst that would happen is most likely is it would clone the Found Illusion in the fights where it's disabled because of the way it works, probably what the second "empty" Found Illusion is for.

Would probably work better than trying to use game genie codes made for the vanilla game though.

No bugs from this. All reusable does is make it so using the item doesn't remove it from the inventory. Events that remove it would work like normal.

By the way, the reason I didn't mention this option is twofold: using Found Illusion in every fight would make the game far easier, and it would involve using the Lazy Shell Editor to modify the item. While there's definitely a Game Genie code that could do this, but I don't know what it is.

I wouldn't recommend doing game genie codes and other such cheat codes of a game shark nature. Due to this game's heavy modification its messed with the addresses to a degree. If your cheat codes unwittingly modify something they shouldn't you could end up with irreversible severe bugs in the game. There has already been cases of such cheat code triggered bugs in the past. Some smart aleks thought they were smooth but the attempt ended up haunting them down the line later in the game.

I realize the Found Illusion item would make it far easier, say if they could be purchased but the whole editing out items to make those purchasable, that's way and far beyond my head.
