I recently found Insane Difficulty and wanted to give a big thank you to all modders here. I am a big old-school RPG fan, and while I've done plenty of stuff like low-level challenges, it can be a bit frustrating since many of these games were just coded to basically be easy; so much wasted potential. For example, Bethsoft games are some of my favourite PC games not because one can add new content, but because I can (and do) easily rebalance the game shortly after I figure out what I consider game-breaking balance issues. And while I've done ASM before and HEX editing, it's a special PITA that even with special tools can be, well, Quite Difficult (.com); though really I bet the magic we all love happens in something like an Excel spreadsheet, which can be even more difficult in some ways.
For site admins interested in how I found this site: I am currently addicted to AGDQ/SGDQ --- Awesome/Summer Games Done Quick, a bi-annual event of live speedrunning w/ audience for charity --- and got reminded of my favourite nostalgic tactics game, Final Fantasy Tactics, which reminded me of how broken it was and how that was discouraging me from replaying it for the 20th time (especially as I've encountered arguably far better-balanced tactics games since), and finally which reminded me I heard about a "difficulty hack". But though I came here in search of FFT rebalancing hacks, I found much more: FF6, CT, BOF3, Megaman X, Lufia, etc. all classics from my childhood that I've all replayed a bunch and would love to replay once again with some well-thought-out difficulty mods.
So, thank you
A big thank you to all modders.

Howdy.
We love these kind of posts. Hope you have a good time destroying the mods hosted here, because we make them simply for others to have fun with them.
Welcome to ID, you'll find yourself right at home here. Enjoy your stay.
Also, forgot to add, many of us love GDQ events in general. I myself love watching speedruns in general. If it is your kind of thing, click the little chat button during those events and you'll find people (including me) willing to talk about them awesome speedruns.

Yeah, we're *quite* familiar with the GDQs here. I took a whole week off work to watch this last SGDQ.
Anyhow, welcome.

Welcome,
While I am not one of the modders, I do tend to enjoy being a PITA to some of them. They are all great guys (well, almost all) and not only encourage playing their mods, but support discussion into self-imposed challenges and runs that change the way the game is played (it isn't always necessary to change the games code to give yourself a challenge). Because of that, most of us here spend hours watching GDQs and even discussing them on chat, because, well, gaming is what we do.
But stick around and hang out for a bit. We may not be great role models, but we sure as hell are entertaining company.

All of you modders are wonderful people and I am extremely grateful to have found this place and to be able to play your difficulty rebalancing rom hacks. Thank you. This place is like heaven for me, it's great to be able to play these classic rpgs on a harder difficulty.
