What's the pint of this....Insane Difficulty Olympics again? I didn't see this last year so I'm curious how can this apply to smrpg armageddon. A hacked version that already has plenty of challenges in it already. New players wouldn't be able to get into this given how good you have to generally be with timing blocks attacks from most of the bosses in the game.

Also what is this about using distributed rom files. Insane Difficulty does not tolerate such activities. - Hart-Hunt <-?

It's illegal to distribute roms of a game you don't have the rights to distribute. Sites that host such action can be taken down. It's as simple as that.

The point is ID is a community, and so I'm hosting an event that involves said community. These events were done more often in the past (The last one was hosted years ago). If you haven't noticed, most of the subforums are brainstorming around the same idea of making a challenge suitable for newcomers. Hell, some even threw the idea of making one suitable for newcomers, and one for veterans, so each will be able to participate in the Olympics with the same amount of challenge.

As for the second, Doomsday explained it perfectly.

Yeah I read his reply which begs the question, if that was the case then isn't that what all the other hacks for different games on this site for or are they just mods that you add into a rom (that is presumably downloaded from other sites) because either way it encourages downloading a rom since it's the only way to use these difficulty mods, or is it just like a "ok these are mods for altering the pirated game but you don't see us providing an actual link or download for the game itself" kind of thing?

It's just an event to get the ID community playing other mods on the site. That's it. Don't over think it.

It's for legality purposes. It's illegal to distribute ROMs, but not to distribute a hack. We distribute hacks, not ROMs.

If you don't want to contribute, simply stay out of the conversation.

Whatever then here's my suggestion for the smrpga forum "olympics challenge". How about the challenge be to defeat May or Dawn's pokemon team without abilities, double turns, and characters have to be level 60.

The first few responses were quite reasonable. You got bent out of shape and started the disrespect. It could be a case that you misunderstood or possibly someone else did. That doesn't quite matter. Rather than taking a step back and asking for any clarification you kept it going. This is why you got the blunt statement "If you don't want to contribute, stay out" from Advent. At which point you decided to amp up the defensiveness and reply with this little gem:

The sarcasm is unnecessary and rude and the "Whatever" part is passive aggressive as all hell.

Nobody here has a problem with questioning the reasoning behind something.** If you don't like the reasoning behind it, then it's cool just don't participate. Or offer suggestions. Something more constructive than what you posted wouldn't have garnered any negative attention.
