But yeah, the hit rate and evasion seems to fall apart against some of the bosses.

Against some of the bosses, the system seems to randomly fall apart and it becomes impossible to hit them.
As far as I can remember, it happened against both Jewel Eater and Gorva. It seems they trigger some sort of invulnerability state that doesn't properly de-activate.
Those two have some of the higher evasion values - might be related.

I'm glad you decided to do this for us that asked. Wish I had checked back sooner after asking for this, just didn't expect it to happen.
I'm gunna go check this out right now.

Just make sure you keep some save states for some of the bosses, as they seem to break the evasion system. They randomly become impossible to hit.

Can you tell me which variant of "impossible to hit" occurs?
100% miss?
Not even a miss as "damage pop up", just plain nothing?
Something else?

The game returns a "Miss" pop-up whenever I strike the boss. Is it possible that attacking too frequently can cause problems? I was using Hawk.

There're auto-misses if the game thinks it just can't handle attacks at all right now, but this should be gone after a second or two. Then there's a "feature" I found only a couple of days ago - against enemies with 32k+ current HP it skips evasion calculation, so if the miss flag is set, you'll keep missing until the enemy drops below the threshold.
And maybe I forgot a minor part of the fix as the relevant stuff is all over the place.
As for Hawk... did you use any form of a cooldown cancel trick? (L/R, auto-attack-toggle, etc.)
Didn't ever test the combination of the fix with that as I shut the easy variation off in the main project.

The forced misses happened even under the HP threshold. When I fought Gorva, he was weak enough to die from a barrage of Item Darts (which aren't particularly powerful even with Hawk's stats).
As for those cooldown cancels, I didn't try to use any of those.

I forgot to fix one of the "if else"-trees, under certain conditions it would skip right past the hit/miss flag updates...

As far as I can tell, everything seems to be in order.

Don't know if this is a problem with just the fix-only or the whole project. Gladiator, haven't tested the other 2nd classes yet, start with maxed out attributes. The level up works if you press A, but you can't gain attributes.
EDIT: I tested further with my current party, Ninja and Enchantress are exactly the same way.

Do you still have a save before that level up?
If so, there's an update that should fix that...

I was one of the people who requested it, but real life has been crazy, and I haven't checked back in awhile.

at me please don't. xD
Is there a chance you can release the running while in combat patch, so
all Seiken Densetsu players can enjoy it?
If I remember correctly, it was the part were you swapped the tech button, and enabled
running while in combat.
Honestly being able to run while in combat might have ended up being
a more awesome patch then even the 3-player hack.
Can running in combat be a patch?
Would I have to send beer or hookers to get this?
*Waits for the apoplectic yelling*
Praetorius: No this my hack! go find yourself a nice bridge to jump off of!

Thank you for one of the most awesome Alpha patches I've been waiting
5-10 years for. > : )
I have waited a very long time for this...
Ever since I first played Seiken Densetsu and then found out how much
of it never got finished, was disabled, or just completely bugged.
I'll get a ROM patched and do a bunch of play throughs on it soon when
real life settles down in a bit.

This one is clearly labelled as "fix-only" a.k.a. total melee-fest/easy-mode; judgement on balance here will be withheld - because there's none
