Like the title says, this is the thread for your ePSXe settings to work best with FFT 1.3.

How to speed your framerate to 120 FPS and beyond:

There's two known graphical issues that this setup fixes: The black map, and the menu thingy.

The thing I've known for some time is that the black map is caused by Frame Skipping, and not having Full Software Drawing. Any setup without those will not have the black map fixed. I'm still not sure what causes the weird menu, but it could be the same thing for all I know.

Something I could not figure out was how to run at 120 FPS.

To do so, after setting the FPS limit to 120 (or 90 in the example above), start the game. Press DELETE to show the frame rate, F4 to go to max frame rate, and END to go to your custom rate. You can then cycle through max, custom and normal using HOME and END.

I appreciate the guide, but I still have some issues with the sound.
1.)At times it gets a little staticy-ish. Not sure how else to describe it. It's not a huge deal, and I seem to remember having this same problem with other games I've tried to emulate.
2.)The slightly bigger issue is I think the music is playing too fast.

I copied the settings in the OT, and I'm using Eternal SPU Plugin 1.50.

Not sure if these matter, but I'm using an onboard sound card(Z77X-UD3H mobo), an i5 3570k, and 8gigs of ram. Anyone have an idea what the problem might be?

Edit-
Can't remember where I got the idea, but lowering the frame limit down to 60 seems to have fixed the music speed issue. As for the static-y, it seems to only be for a second or two after a new track starts or when I stop holding down the key that removes the frame limit.

My gut tells me that may not be an issue with your SPU of choice, simply because a lot of people -- myself included -- use these specs, particularly the SPU setup, and have no such issues.

Well, it's quite natural that the track plays faster if you play the game faster... Is that what you're talking about? There's nothing to do about that in the ePSXe settings.

We have, but the issue isn't usually that cut and dry. I've seen some people using the same exact settings as others having it while the one they got the settings from doesn't.

Edit: shit i double posted sorry bout that thought my previous thing went before yours, also just to put it out there, i fixed pretty much all the bugs, including the black screen, the bar code text, and the job screen, with P.E.Op.S. soft driver 1.18 for my video plugin but id have no idea where to DL it cuz my epsxe came with all the stuff in the folder

That's one of the more popular ones for lower-spec systems. It's one of Pete's plugins which you can find fairly easily with a simple google search.

also dont know if its relevent, but do u think which epsxe u use would matter? i use 1.6 because it seems to emulate the best for me

The main reason for the black map glitch is the video driver and using frame skipping.

hell 1.9 runs at 50 fps on my comp >.< and 1.7 for some reason cant run the Cd change part for multi disk games, thats why i use .6
