Hi Praetarius.
I've been following this mod for quite some time, and I'm very impressed with the effort.
The biggest issue I got with the (vanilla) game is how slow magic makes everything. Not the casting time and spell effect, but having to open the menu to choose the spell each time (no shortcuts).
So I thought it could be interesting if the characters could cast their own magic. Giving them behaviors to cast spells on their own seems too complex, but I was wondering if the tech slots for characters could be used for this (i.e: having Angela and Carlie use their spells instead of their tech). Resulting in them casting the spells whenever the bar gets full.
Just a thought. Wish there was a way to accomplish something like this, or at least using a pre-defined shortcut. Controls-wise, it seems that switching characters can be done with both select button and L-R, so I wonder why the devs didn't use L and R for spell shortcuts. Maybe lack of a nice UI for selecting them?

technically yes, spells can be set as replacement for techs.
but that handling sits in the "fun" section, so I could at most define a permanent replacement, which wouldn't work too well, as spells used as techs cost neither MP nor TP.

probably that and total lack of RAM where to save that info
