It's been a while since I've been back to the forums, and I only just recently got around to downloading the New Threat Hack for Final Fantasy VII, but so far, I'm rather enjoying the new take on the stat system. Having only just arrived at Junon, I've only recently been given access to Mr. Smile's dubious deals, and can already tell that this is going to be a lot of fun. There have been a number of minor blemishes in the script - a few syntax errors here and there, and a few times certain scenes lose the necessary framing due to content editing in the previous scenes.
The only really game inhibiting problem that I've encountered so far, and since this is the first time that I've played any version other than the PSX version, it may not be due to the hack, was in a house in Kalm where I became sprite locked. Left of the inn, it's the house with an old man in a rocking chair, and after letting his dog out of the closet, I got locked in place.
On the other hand, if you're actually looking for in depth testing depth and, or, editing I'd be willing to offer my services; I can't promise how much I'll get through though. I did a bit for Brave New World, but only ended up getting about a third of the way through the game, due to the testing eating up more time that I was able to offer. On the other hand, I have a bit of free time right now, and I should actually have an entire day freeing up soon on top of that, so I might be able to get through a decent amount of content. So let me know if you're interested, and I'll get on it.
Either way, I just wanted to congratulate you on what is a very enjoyable game so far. Kudos.
Best Regards,
Az

I'm not sure why, but the game isn't allowing me to go to the Rank Up section after the initial time. I already ranked up once, and i have enough points to rank up on several other characters, but the game isn't letting me in the Emporium to do so.

Check your button config and make sure L2 (I think it's L2) is properly mapped; sometimes the config can get messed up. Are you using a controller or a keyboard?

It is properly mapped. I also tried reinstalling the mod, still no luck. :'(
I'm on a keyboard.

Hey Sega Chief,
Not sure if you're still updating this, but had a couple of quick queries (may or may not be bugs):
1. In the fight against Gi Kattan, is it intentional that Barret's Mindblow should *heal* the enemy's MP? I thought this might be because they were zombified, but on the other hand Osmose damages as usual, so I'm not sure what's going on. I was going for a strategy of draining the flames' mp so that they could no longer cast Demi 3, but this made it a lot harder to accomplish...
2. I've reached Nibelheim without seeing a single L2 limit break. I've been running from a fair few encounters, but certainly not so much that I feel under-levelled (most characters around Lv31, SP rank 3/8). Then Vincent joins my party, and in the course of about 10 battles he learns not just his L2, but also his L3 limit break?? Is this working as intended?
3. To rank up from Lv31 to 32 seems to take about 10x as much experience as every other level. Again, not sure if this is a glitch, or maybe put in intentionally to keep non-party characters and party characters roughly in parity.
Cheers again for the mod.
EDIT: Ah, whoops, just saw your earlier post to someone else about the soft caps at 21, 31, etc. And I've started to get my Limit Breaks now, so there we go.
However, the Fort Condor guy seems to have glitched out: after finishing Temple of the Ancients (Brass Dragon fight was very funny, well done) whenever I talk to him he tells me I need 4000 gil to fight the battle, even though I have about 70000 by this point.

Heygirlhey.
I know it's cliche, but I'd like to first tell you how cool I think this mod is and how much I admire your work on it. Oodles. That's how much.
Now, my other reason for posting is this: I started the game a couple of days ago, recruited Tifa, did the Beginner's Hall, saved it, and exited the game through the menu. When I went to load that save, it didn't exist anymore. I didn't have the option to "continue" at the main screen, and when I started a new game and went to save it, the original save was nowhere to be found. For now, since I hadn't made too much progress anyway, I'm not really worried about it. My concern is whether or not it will happen repeatedly. Have you ever heard of this issue? Is it more likely an issue with Steam itself? (I got Steam specifically to play this mod because it sounded so dope)
Anyway, thank you again for releasing this awesome project, and happy new year!

I visited the ruined reactor right after I got out of the village where Cloud turns into a whiner It keeps panning up to show the reactor, panning back down and soft locking. I cannot move or do anything after that sequence plays. Its been a while so I do not remember what is supposed to happen but it doesnt seem that I can proceed to the battle.

@Uluru
Very late reply, but just in case:
-) Mindblow heals the enemy in the Gi Kattan fight as this Limit has the Gravity element attached to it.
-) The Limit learning rate is roughly the same as the base game, but Vincent's Limits are fairly unique so I set them to unlock right away to give them a little more utility as they're quite restrictive compared to the others.
-) The Fort Condor teleport NPC had a script problem back then where he was checking for values of money within a certain range, rather than just any value above 4000. It should be fixed in the current flevel patch.
@dermzoo
FF7 Steam has DRM for the save files you make and tries to have you use Cloud Saving as well. I'd opt to disable Cloud Saving and keep your save files on the hard drive, and avoid altering the save files if you can avoid it. When the launcher is started, it makes a check of all your save files and deletes any that don't meet a checksum. There have been times when these files are deleted anyway, even without any alterations being made. If that happens, you may need to back-up your save folder every time you close the game then paste them back in after starting the launcher.
@Maxter
I'll check that problem out; I think the script isn't supposed to trigger after a certain story point, but it seems to be trying to activate it.

Greetings, really hyped to try your mod, looks to be up there with FFVI: BNW in terms of quality. However despite fishing for information here and on youtube, there are still a couple things I'd like to know before starting.
First of all, what's in store for the next update, and is it maybe worth it to wait it out before starting my first playthrough? Or is it still a ways off? I presume the current version is stable, however, with all the bells and whistles necessary to get the full experience?
You have a plethora of added content, it seems; however, if I was looking for a more "contained" experience, as in a more casual playthrough of the game without too much sidequesting and stuff, is the difficulty curve such that it's still manageable? I'll probably end up exploring most of the new stuff anyways but just out of curiosity.
On a related note, have you beefed up the final boss/done anything with ruby/emerald? I read somewhere that you've restricted stat-maxing so as to preserve a sense of challenge and decision making when it comes to character growth, which I think is freaking beautiful.. but surely you've adjusted the superbosses too to accommodate for this? I'm guessing the final boss still ends up being a pushover if you go for all that sidestuff however, haha..
On a more technical note, I read about soft caps happening at certain points and grinding for levels doesn't yield you any stats besides hp/mp(?). I like it, but if the rank-up system is dependent on your story progression, what then is the point of fighting random encounters besides for the money? (you can tell that I'm an overanalyzer)
Okay that turned out way too long. But hopefully you don't mind.

It's still a ways off; the current build is stable but there are a couple of bugs in there.
I think the last three story bosses in North Crater might be a handful without stopping off to gather some stuff. Ruby and Emerald aren't as strong as they used to be in order to account for the lower MaxHP.
Levels grant a boost to physical/magical damage output (it's called in the game's damage formulas), steal/manip chances, and of course HP/MP. Randoms also give items, AP for Materia, and SP which is used to buy sources to develop stats.

Hey, I'm playing through this mod again, this time on 1.4, using the download link provided in this thread. I've finally gotten all the party members and there are inconsistencies between the innate abilities in the game and those listed in the readme.
Notably, Cid gain Barrier/MBarrier when hit, but the readme says he increases luck and Cait Sith slowly gains MP, but the readme says he sometimes restores HP. Also, I've never seen the game prompt when Red XIII reaches +50 str/mag, but it is possible that I haven't been in a battle that was long enough, so I'm not sure about that one.

There are, yeah; I've not updated the documentation yet.
