I am here everyday. Ever since this site stopped being "that place where I can talk about 1.3" and became "the site where I know the members, and have shit to talk about with them," I am willing to bet I have been here every single day. First thing I do when I get home after a long day of working or going out with friends is grab a beer and come on this site. First thing I do in the morning if I don't have work is make a cup of coffee and check this place out. I have had ID chat open since I woke up today.
Point is, I spend a lot of fucking time here. I talk to some of you more than anyone I know in real life.
If I died tomorrow, none of you would know. You guys know intimate details about my life, have heard stories about people I know, and yet I haven't told anyone here any truly personal details.
Most of you who know me well know I live near Seattle, you may know my first name is Dan, and... that's fucking it. You have heard a lot of stories that give you a very good idea about who I am, and what I do. But, nobody here knows details.
You don't know the name of the town I live in, you don't know the names of any of my friends, you don't know the names of any of my family members.
But you guys have heard about how my town, have heard stories about my friends (most of them about the same person), and probably shit about my family. You also know more about my life than anyone else.
But, if I were to die, none of you would know. I just... wouldn't show up anymore. After a few days, maybe people would be like "where the fucks Kjata been?" A while longer, and I might get a few comments on my profile saying shit like #bringbackkjata or some shit.
And then, nothing. That's it. Eventually, I'd fade from memory here entirely. None of you would mourn, because none of you know.

To be quite honest, this is a thought that crossed my mind at some point back in 2009, or a bit earlier, when I played too much online, and made a solid group of friends there.
While I did have some of them on Facebook, if I died, they wouldn't ever know, or at least, they would be the last to know. Given the fact that they were precious friends, this thought alone was heartbreaking, soulcrushing, precisely because I would eventually just become a fading memory.
Granted, I do believe people would have not only wondered where I would be, but they would also assume something was off. And one of them is actually capable of trying to contact friends on my facebook list. In a way, this made me feel a bit better because they would still know about me.
Nowadays, there's people I've lost contact with, and I remember them quite often, thinking that maybe one day I get to chat with them again, should they still be okay... I just don't have any way to reach them, or it hasn't occurred to me.
Freya's quote comes to mind: to be forgotten is worse than death.

An... interesting... thought, but it doesn't really apply to me because Nattak/Madsiur would find out through Facebook and you guys would find out through them. I'm not on Facebook much, but I assume some of that stuff would filter their way.

I'm sure if I died, someone will find out about it through Facebook. I'm there enough, but I also have a large family so I'm sure someone will post about funeral details on my page.

We're just a blip, but while not a lot of things are really significant, everything makes an impact on reality. History as we relate to it might not reflect your life in textbooks, but the present can never discount anything or anyone. The present always remembers the literal past.
It's a matter of perspective. You can also argue that nothing we do means anything ever, but that's a pretty depressing way to think. Why not pick the brighter perspective when you have a choice? None of them are technically wrong, it's just the interpretation that's different.
Anyway, I'm pretty sure that we would know, sooner or later. You wouldn't be forgotten in a couple of days. We will all be forgotten in a lifetime.
