I just beat the Zombor fight. The mod's alright, but I feel like the early game could use a little work. I didn't really start enjoying the mod until 2300 A.D. the factory was one of my favorite levels so far and I liked the boss more than the last three I'd fought. Heckran and Zombor were fun fights as well. Most of the fights up to post cathedral take up too much time, and I was kinda disgusted by how the first fight in the game is nearly impossible without grinding up to level three and getting cyclone. Yakra was a pretty fun boss, I used up all my mp in that one. I waited for Lucca to do the prison dungeon and couldn't really imagine doing it with Chrono alone, I guess you're not supposed to solo the prison in this mod? The dragon tank was alright, but I feel like the wheel could do a little less damage.
The two meat eaters were pretty awful to deal with, it wasn't hard, just kinda tedious waiting for them both to act before rushing a target down. I took the guardian's counter after thinking "Maybe hypno wave works on these bits." I managed to win but geez. The R Series fight so far was my favorite until I got to Zombor. I was dreading it but it felt fair and I really had to keep track of their health values and slow down after a couple of them went down. Even though I liked the factory, I feel like the best part so far was Heckran's cave. That dungeon was a real test for my mp management skills, and one I thoroughly enjoyed. I managed to defeat every single enemy in the cave without using a single shelter. The boss fight was kinda standard, but it was still fun.
The Zombor fight though, oh boy. That was really challenging, but also really good. I was not expecting his laser to do that much, but even then bouncing back from it was still possible. I got down to just Robo but still managed to get the party back on their feet and from that point on I was able to hold the high ground until the end. Aside from the very first battle with the imps with a level 1 Crono, I've had no game overs so far. Looking forward to Denadoro Mountains and Magus' Castle. Those two always had my favorite boss fights.
