not sure if anyone has addressed this in the past or even if i have or not but in the WoR when you go to get eiko and if you have a full party when you finish the boss battle and get the magicite eiko joins the party as intended but the screen fades to black and softlocks...... note the music keeps playing but its just a perpetual black screen....... it can be "countered" if you only bring 3 people into the mansion when you go to get eiko tho so......

He said how it happened pretty well, hmm I'm not sure about this, when testing I think I usually do bring a party of 4 to get her and never had this happen. Which version was this on? That is all purely event code so it's an easy fix if it is still happening. I appreciate the report and will look into it here today.

it was on version 1.7.1 using snes9x 1.53 if it would matter any although i doubt it would my party was Serin Ronan Tifa and Avalon all at an average level of around 50-51
i have also had this happen in previous versions as well iirc but cant recall which ones if any at all
EDIT: i tried doing the boss fight on zsnes 1.5.1 using the same exact save data to see if anything different would happen but to no avail as it stilll went to the perpetual black screen after obtaining the esper which could be a clue as to it not being an issue on the side of the emulator

I wasn't sure which forum topic to put this on. I have a bug report not related to Eiko:
After a wild ride on a certain raft, Serin is with two compatriots. The two comrades each have a Vanish Cloak (+2% to learn 'Vanish') equipped. Serrin got credit for learning the Vanish spell despite him only wearing Iron Armor on the armor slot. He learned Vanish after 25 battles. I exited and restarted my game several times. There was a 50/50 chance of the glitch repeating itself. It only worked on battles that granted SP. Sometimes just for one cloak; other times for both.

Ah I see what the issue is here with that Eiko bug. It's happens if you apply the level averaging patch included with the hack...might you have applied that to your ROM I hope? I was testing a ROM today patched with all the included patches and then it happens. So yeah, easy fix, I forgot to update a branch when adding in the level averaging command there, something like that.

that would explain why my first original run thru i didnt see it happen but all of a sudden did...... and yes i did use the level patch...... would patching a fresh copy and leaving out the level averaging patch cause my current save to stop working or could it still be playable? if it would still be playable i'll try that sometimes but ill wait for the time being

I can confirm this, it seems to happen only for the scenario split yeah, as opposed to before Ultros with the party of 4. Very strange... I see he's picking up on Astral/Banon's spell learning from his Vanish Cloak and Wizard Hat. I'll try and hunt down the culprit, but if I can't probably switching his gear is the thing to do. Though I would miss him having a cloak and wizard hat because it fits his role.
EDIT: Actually I see the AP gained is going to whoever is in character spot 3 at the time, not Serin/Edgar/char04. I also see it is not an issue in vanilla, so it's an RotDS exclusive! My favorite kind of bug...

So it's formation slot specific? I remember this bug though thought the Spell points went to whoever was in the formation slot below the guest character. Also, does it still pop up when the guest character is in slot 4? Ran into this back in 1.1 though treated it as "yay, free magic" The 50% chance per battle is indeed curious; I wonder what it's tied to?

Half the time i was play testing the bug, i had Aurora in slot three. Her cloak was still teaching her Vanish. So, +4% per battle per battle that gave spell points. She knew the spell you get from the Wizard's Hat already.

This bug has been vanquished. It was a confliction with some custom code and an outside patch I totally forgot I used and for some reason destroyed all evidence of ever using it. I decided to change Astral's gear anyway, though, just because I'm traumatized now and since he is a guest character it's always nice to have them come with a little better gear than the party (unless it's a new game + lol). And since he doesn't learn or can cast those spells it makes a little more sense I suppose.
It's good to put this one to rest though, the bug has been secretly lurking since v1.4 (dec. 30 2015).

not sure if this was intended or not but i just cleared avalon's dream sequence and gave him the onimusha as his main weapon and now his attack command changed to x-fight...... was that supposed to happen or no (note i dont have divine gift or w/e it was called that normally does it atm)

Definitely intended. It shares the same 2-4 strike flag as the Divine Gift, and thus changes fight to X-fight.
