Sounds good, I just dove in and haven't gotten that far and don't recall too much change.

If you go back and play vanilla, you can definitely tell the difference between the early game mettaurs. It's not enough to really provide much of a challenge to a vet, but it's understandable if he's trying to balance it for new players as well.

The thing is, the AI by itself it's not enough to make it a challenge. You can still 1 shot the early viruses with most chips, and still, you're facing a combination of Mettaurs and Cannodumbs!
If you can hold for me to release the first version with battle formations edited (shouldn't take long, I'm finishing its design between today and tomorrow. From there, I'll give it to the testers to try it out.), then you'll be able to take a closer look at how I want to make BN3 worth of this site's name. The first release will have them edited up to Flashman.

I'd like to join the beta. I have some basic experience with hex editing and have played most of the Battle Network games. 3 Blue is still my favorite of the series so this hack sounds really exciting.

You're most definitely in, sir.
Gentlemen, I'd like to apologyze for the delay in making the beta test version. As you may've seen (or not), I've spent most of my time finishing the beta or my Megaman X project. But now that's taken care of, this project takes priority. Boy I've been waiting for this.

Alright then, I'm on board. I played to Flashman. I can be considered your "bad player" tester. I haven't played this game in YEARS, I think the last time I touched it was when it first came out. I even have the video. I cut out the first little test part of the video as it's ultimately pointless. Send me a PM when you can make it how you want. I'll even start over for fairness sake (because I got lucky and managed to have more hp than normal probably).
Although, I did play a *little* bit more, and you could probably make Version 1 Gutsman harder. . That said, here you go:
P.S. Fear my amazingly awful voice. Also, if you'd rather me embed it I will, but... Eh...

This is pretty sweet. It'll help me a lot to see if the viruses you meet are in the difficulty I want them to be. I'll be watching it now.
Will take note of Gutsman if it needs a buff. The latter versions are much more fun to battle against, but I didn't want him to be overkill in the first version (kind of the same idea with all of the navis and viruses, actually).

Okay, I've documented everything I needed for the first day. Completed the design of the battle formations. Now I'm just making the changes into the ROM. Also, as the locations of some of the viruses have been altered to be more early in the game, I'll need to nerf the damage done with various attacks before sending to you guys the test version.
But now it's very close.
Needless to say, I'll leave the shops editing, and chips editing for after I've finished the battle formations. So you'll end up being able to buy say 3 Invis, 1 Area Grab... And with Ratton1 chips that deal 80 damage, ranged.
But, 1 thing at a time. I'll have this done really soon, because now I am certain I don't need to document anything else atm. People who signed, expect a PM this week with the IPS patch and perhaps some notes about the patch. The task will be simply to play the game up to the end of the first day, then give me feedback and thoughts about the difficulty.

Not an update, but a note: I'm simply loving the result of this. Anyone who wanted a difficulty, not bullshit kind of mod of BN3, will not be disappointed by this.

Alright, check it now. I tried to make it so everyone could read the same conversation, but I guess this will have to do.

So far I'm at about 7 or 8 game-overs, all of them except one from before the school. The dungeon before the school was... rough. A combination of underpowered chips and difficult to maneuver enemy formations along with a general inexperience just made everything except the enemies in ACDC1 potentially threatening. Once I got the first HP upgrade things got a little bit manageable, and once I got the second one along with a 30 recovery I was able to get through without too much issue. To bring it up again, is "Red means go" supposed to be true? Because uhhh...
The school was much easier than the previous dungeon, with only one game-over from a combo boomerang guy/cannon in the middle formation. Flashman was pretty easy, even though I got hit by basically everything. I had 180 HP at the time, and a lot of recovery (three 30 recoveries and 4 10s, one of which was a * that I set to start the battle with). I also hit him with a Shake1, a Ratton1, and a Roll with a +10 power, which basically took him out between the three of them. Gutsman was similarly very easy the first time. Basically, since I had 180 health and all that recovery combined with the 5 or so chips I have that do 80-100 damage from range (plus 5 or so more swords that do it from melee-ish) battles went from from hard to easy.
