Anybody else plays them?
I was playing one of the latest Tales with my friend (Tales of Graces F) since it's multiplayer and while getting our asses kicked on a boss I was wondering if anybody else here like the Tales series, I've never seen it mentioned here

I lack a PS3 currently, so I haven't touched the PS3 exclusives, but I've played everything from Symphonia up to Vesperia sans Knights of Ratatosk. Vesperia is easily one of the best RPGs I've ever played.

I've played a few of them. They all tend to meld together in my mind, since they're all very samey.

Sweet, I don't own a ps3 either but I leech it from said friend. Symphonia is also very solid, especially since you can easily play the undub version using a gamecube emulator (love japanese voice actors)

Story-wise yeah, that's their weakest point. But hey it's a JRPG, so save the world yada yada. Combat system and a lot of characters stand out.

The depth of Vesperia's story and character development really stick out to me; there's just no comparing it with Symphonia or Abyss.

Well that's almost because of how great of a main character Yuri is. Here's not the typical ''I want to protect my friends/familyx1000'' main character.
The rest is subjective though. I think that Destiny has the overall best characters and story. But apples and oranges.

That does have a lot to do with it.
I like how you can really see a lot of the other characters growth as well, in particular Estelle, Karol (I don't like him, but that scene at the Blade Drifts of Zopheir was awesome, and gave birth to the best line in the game: "Sorry we're late, traffic was awful.", and Rita/Raven to a slightly lesser extent.

Vesperia was so good that I've ben thinking about buying an xbox again just to play it.
I think the best scene is when Yuri confronts that guy, who is going to get away with whatever eh was doing, and Yuri murders him. i don't remember who that was, what he did, or much else about that game really. But it was so refreshing to see a JRPG protagonist go "Fuck villains getting away, I'm gonna solve this shit."

That would be Ragou, and later Cumore. You could not imagine my glee as I watched Cumore die.

Wait a one gaddamn minute...there is tales game on ps3?!
Also never had a chance to play one, I tried to play undub abyss on ps2 emulator but 30~ fps were killing me.

Two, actually: tales of Graces f and tales of Xillia.
There's the Vesperia PS3 version which is highly superior to the 360 version, but I don't think there's an english patch for it as of yet.

Xillia on the ps3 is also JAP only, but it's coming soon in english due to Graces F selling enough.
But yeah Graces F is pretty good and if you liked Vesperia you'll probably like that one (just have to get used to CC instead of TP)

Ah, right. I was thinking that Xillia might be jap only currently, but I'd forgotten which one.

You can get it for the 360 in english already, but I'd check on the progress for the PS3 english patch; if it's completed, I'd definitely go for the PS3.

Yeah, the PS3 version is superior but you'll need a A PS3 that has not been updated beyond firmware version 3.55.
And if you have a PS3 I recommend Tales of Graces F, the combat system is great.

Isn't ToGf the one with that guy (I lack a PS3 so I haven't played it) that does Expunging Slash as a Mystic Arte? If so, the expositions I've seen for that game are indeed pretty sick.
