It's just one of those days for me. I've heard this exact same message echoed repeatedly in chat (though I'm fairly sure the ones who've been saying it are either joking or they are so insignificant their opinions are worth less than nothing to anyone on these boards) and it's starting to grate on me.

I rarely have good days (once a month tops I have something I can call a "good" day), and today was awesome till I got home about 45 minutes ago, then it went to shit. Then I come on here and see this, and in chat I get unintentionally ignored.

Just one of those days where you take everything too personal because it just rubs you the wrong way, you know?

I really need to get familiar with the limits you guys are facing if I want to provide constructive commentary

My go to response for balancing abilities would be to

- Make them scale with Stats/Level in their formula

- Give them secondary effects for strategic value outside of damage

Second Advent defended a lot of abilities as being useful for accomplishing goals outside of just winning battles (learning abilities early etc..)

I think that having an entire ability relegated to such a specific use is a waste. Especially if you want to make the game deeper.

I know that their scaling is not doable, because I'd need to know exactly where and more importantly how the formula is stored, and I'd then have to rewrite it completely.

As a general rule, anything that has to do with formula editing is not feasible. I can, however, change the power and the AP cost, and (so far) if it's possible to learn via Examine or not.

Exactly, which is why resistances are being changed all around to make statii and psionics more viable. Stuff like Gloom and Douse though are really abusable; Gloom makes their Holy resistance 0 and thus provides a 100% one shot kill with Kyrie, whereas Douse makes them take 300% fire damage and would effectively make every boss wet tissue paper in the face of Garr.
