I know that a few reviews have already gone up on the news feed, but I was thinking that we should have a separate section of the site for reviews. I was considering writing a few for some of the games I've been playing lately, and I thought that it would be a sweet addition to the site that could bring in more traffic. It wouldn't necessarily have to be reviews of difficult games, although I imagine that would be a majority of submissions. We could even have a reviews editor who proofreads everything that goes up for mistakes and makes editorial suggestions. (I would volunteer for this position if the feature gets approved)
This question is mostly aimed towards Arch, since he's idling in chat right now and not responding, but chime in if you have an opinion.

I'll get started on some rough drafts and such for games I'm interested in reviewing. I mostly play PC and handheld games, so expect a majority of those from moi. Hell, I might even continue Fallen Star so I can write a proper review for it. 
Arch, would it be possible to make it so that reviewers could submit an article, then have it send a notification to anyone flagged as a reviews editor so they could proof-read it before it would go public? If it could be done, it would save a lot of time and smooth out the process of getting them up. If it's too much work though, I'd understand.

Definately think this would be a great idea - perhaps add in some review criterie if relevant about the games in question? For example, 'Difficulty' and 'Moddable' which could be your opinions on how useful a mod might be to revitalise the game and make us enjoy them even more!

My idea was to have a list somewhat like:
Gameplay
Presentation
Controls
Challenge Level
Moddable sounds like an interesting one too. I'm definitely not going to be scoring games though, game scores come with a whole lot of unnecessary baggage.

To be fair, that's not what I read when I see a 5/10; I do read that someone didn't have a very high opinion of the game. I don't think most, if any, review a game like that; or if they do, I haven't seen any.

Exactly my point. Almost all game scores on a scale of 1 to 10 really could be converted to a scale of -5 to 5. Scores have become so inflated for whatever reasons that if a game gets less than a 7, fans lose it.

Considering the theme of the site, it'd be interesting to include a hefty portion of the reviews from the difficulty point of view, and how much challenge a game provides.

Overall I like the idea of reviews. However, the only thing I don't really like is the idea of "your criteria is x y z." I think that should be left up to individual reviewer as to whether or not they split it into blocks or just write one big post, as long as it is quality writing of course.

Yeah I think that goes without saying for the most part. I know that if I personally was gonna do a review, it'd be my own criteria.

I was strictly speaking of how I would write one, not dictate to other reviewers how they should write it.

Yeah, 7 is the new 5. I agree with keeping numbers out of it entirely, but I do think there should be some kind of unifying formal structure for the sake of continuity.
