So, I like the idea of doing a series of game reviews. With that being said, what would you want to see? I think we should also think about what perspective newcomers to the site would be interested in. I don't really have a set name for the reviews themselves...Stann suggested "Insane Reviews" in chat; albeit its a little corny but doesn't sound too bad.

My main goal is to write stuff you guys would like to see, as well as give information to newcomers. We can branch outside of reviews as well, that is why I am hoping for some discussion/suggestions for this. In addition, anyone that wants to contribute reviews should definitely do so, as this will only help enhance ID!

Review of difficult games as they get released

OR

Reviewing newly released games from the point of view of difficulty

Example:

Game X gets released
We review its difficulty and whether or not its worth getting for someone who likes challenges
If it's too easy, we rate it low
if its challenging, especially the right way, we rate it high

Are you talking about just hacks? Or the newest difficult PS3 game, for example? I ask only because my system choices are pretty limited.

I voted A., but I think A. and B. are appropriate. Even some C. if you keep it loosely based on ID happenings.

New releases of ANY system / platform

You don't have to be the only testers / reviewer

I like the idea of gaming related topics, but in my opinion game reviews benefits us the most, because for example if someone comes to ID interested in 1.3 and they see a different game review on the front page, it gives them instant exposure and hopeful interest.

but order of priority i would say
1.reviews
2.Misc non gaming topics
3. Misc Gaming topics

I meant to put in the OP that anyone that wants to do reviews too would be greatly appreciated because many different views only makes it better for everyone.

I really do like this idea though because that would be easy to branch out into a lot of different discussions.

Misc non-game topics being above Misc Gaming topics is more of just my preference as i enjoy reading the random things that the ID members discuss and the knowledgeable insight they all give on any sort of subject asked of them. The site already has a lot of gaming topics already and to me personally, i dont read them as much unless i know the game, while i will read most of the random topics more often.

i just like the random stuff that people talk about on ID over the gaming stuff since a lot of them are uninteresting or just something i wouldnt understand as i have not really played whatever game is being discussed. for example, all the tactics threads that i dont bother to read since i'm terribad at it and so i dont really play or know too much about it anymore.

Just my opinion anyway.

Reviewing games focusing on the difficulty is a great idea, I think both releases and old games should be reviewed, we could have something like a retro insanely difficult game of the week because even tough we know a lot of them some of us may have never played one just because he has never heard enough of it.

I'd be up for slamming out reviews myself. Probably mostly for hacks/player-made challenges/PC games since I don't own any of the current gen. consoles.

I don't mind doing both. But it should be noted that reviewing new games requires access to new games, which f/ex i don't have atm (money/time kinda tight).

In terms of general articles, i guess you could start with the reason why you care about game difficulty at all (as opposed to graphics, novelty, realism or whatever else lures gamers in nowadays), and work from there.

So mostly difficulty reviews, and an occasional misc gaming topic for the flavour.

We need more work into the areas of:

1. Games (new and old) reviewed from the aspect of difficulty
2. Categorization of challenges (will probably be made easier once we get new wiki running)
