Now I got wiped out by the first Tubster I encountered in the Black Omen. Looked it up and saw the strategy was to use protect on Lucca, do a single target Fire dual tech with anyone and the Tubster will counter Lucca. You must then heal her and repeat the process.

I managed to get all the way, defeating the Giga Mutant (after about 15 tries). I get to the Twin Tubsters and use the same strategy succeedind the first time but got wiped out by the panels in the next room after failing to equip the shadow mails.

Now everytime I restart I'm able to defeat the first Tubster (his counterattact only dealt 735 damage on Lucca) but the second one did about 1015 then proceeded to do the "stab" counter on the whole party.
It's weird because I recasted Protect to make sure it didn't wear off. Am I wrong to assume recasting Protect over a character cancels the previous protect?

Edit: I'm thinking of equipping the Green Dream on Lucca. Will that solve the problem?

Green Dream would solve the problem once, but you'd have to kill the Tubster with the next attack. Do you have a Safe Helm or something Lucca could use? I wanna say casting Protect before Protect drops does not refresh it. As such, you could wait for it to wear off and then recast it. You also don't have to use Lucca for the counter attack, you can use anyone, really.

I see. That might be my mistake. I probably recasted too early so it wore off the next counterattack.
I actually got past that section using SpinStrike Spam but I really wanted a Lucca, Marle, Ayla party all the way. No problems though. Thanks!

Ah, yeah, the game isn't really designed around using the same party the whole way. So attempting to do so can make some parts difficult. Though it is usually possible.
