Pretty much the same but usually centered closer to the bottom than the top for scrolling down.

Nah, not saying that what you're saying is completely wrong, but everything considered, you can't just override it like that. To be honest, you had me stumped as I never considered such a dismissive respons. I respect your opinions, but you had me puzzled this time. I decided to ask a UX/wireframe specialist about it when on a UX meetup I attended today, presenting the two ideas neutrally (drew it up, explained that it was for forum posts, placement and all) and he picked the option I presented with the exact same arguments I had.
Anyway, from a UX POV [repetition]. ;P
