Why is there no "General Gaming Discussion" forum?

I actually just realized this. I wanted to talk about Tales of Graces F, and came on here, and thought "Where the hell do I post this?"

It's not Challenge related.
General discussion is for real life shit.
It's nothing to do with any of the mods here.

It seems strange that a gaming website has nowhere to talk about random game bullshit.

It just seems out of place to me to have "Morality and the Christian God" and "Blah Blah Tales of Graces: Shittier than all the other Tales games I've played" in the same forum.

Maybe it's just me.

Okay then. I think every other forum I've been a regular on has always had "Real Life" and "Gaming not related to the website" separate. If we don't, works for me.

Speaking of said game... How do you compare it with Tales of Xillia? I looked up if there were other "Tales of" games for ps3 and saw there was Tales of Graces F and 1 or 2 others, including an upcoming Tales of Xillia 2.

Anywya, it sucks you don't like Graces F Kjata because it has the best 3D gameplay of all the series (and also the most popular Tales in Japan).

Xillia imo is pretty bad. It was rushed for the 15th anniversary and it shows in its lack of sidequest content. The typical Tales humor is almost non-existent and most of the characters are pretty bland (the only one I liked was Elize because she actually grew through the game). Jude and Milla are imo the worst Tales protagonist.

As for gameplay, Xillia is almost identical to Vesperia, which is a huge downgrade from Graces F. The good news is Xillia 2 fixes that, somewhat. Xillia 2 stil has the ''the main character is overpowered so playing other characters seem like a waste'' syndrome unlike Tales like Destiny R or Graces.

So...I should look into getting Graces F if I liked Tales of Xillia ok? I did Xillia and it was meh. I still like Tales of Destiny for PS better, but I liked the Lilium orb to advance characters.

Xillia and Graces are really different because they're made by different teams*.

In case you didn't know, there are (were) 2 different teams that worked on Tales games: Team Destiny and Team Symphonia.

In short, Team Destiny emphasizes fast 2D'ish gameplay mainly (Tales of Destiny R, Rebirth, Graces, etc)and although Graces is 3D it's very different from Team Symphonia's 3D (Tales of Symphonia, Vesperia, Abyss, etc). Both teams usually give out the same JRPG story and humor.

*now, both Teams are merged into one since Xillia, but Xillia is still more on the side of Team Symphonia, unlike Xillia 2.

All in all, you should definitively try Graces if you like hard, fast paced games (you can unlock the hardest difficulty without beating the game unlike Xillia). You might be turned off by the first 2-3 hours, which is a prologue and is heavy story/cutscenes based but pass that it's amazing. Note that you can skip that prologue in future new game+.

I also saw there's the Tales of Vesperia and Tales of Symphonia collection or something for PS3. FFX HD is coming out next month, but I'm all for great games going cheap because they're "old." Hell I got Unreal Tournament for PS3 for 2 bucks. Any non sports game for 2 bucks is worth it in my book.

Just General Discussion and Gaming Discussion should be fine, but I forsee a lot of misplaced mod threads by new guys in the future.

I see little point in splitting the forum considering the amount of traffic today. It's not a major thing though, and it wouldn't really bother me either way. I'm just leaning more toward keeping it as it is, as misc is misc is misc. Of course, if more traffic is coming in and threads move faster and faster, there might be a point to make the change sooner rather than later just to have everything in place already when the need is here.

Yeah, mr Muddy Waters sharing opinions again.

I phrased that badly. The thing I don't like about it is that Sophie is the worst "Mystical Plot Driving Girl." I mean, she is boring at the best of times and irritating at the worst. She also has one of the worst designs for a character designs of any Tales character ever. I mean, I just want to get rid of those stupid fucking pigtails.

The gameplay is really interesting, it just doesn't feel as fluid as Xillia. With Xillia, I was dodging while constantly attacking. Xillia had the best gameplay IMO, I really liked the overall plot, and while Jude was no Yuri he was better than Lloyd and Luke.

Admittedly, I'm not that far yet. I do like the game a lot, the beginning was just so bad I'm having a hard time getting into it.

I had the same sensation of weirdness, with the idea of discussing both irl things and game stuff in the same subforum. After spending little time, I just got used to it.

Tbh, I'd say don't fix what's not broken. We get it, new members get it, and it's not that big of a deal, as the amount of threads in that subforum is manageable as is. This of course is a big IMO, aka two cents.
