I will test a few things but it would greatly help to narrow this down if anyone could be sure exactly when or obviously how it appeared in their inventory, by checking previous saves or reproducing it - I suspect it pretty much must have happened in that Lava Demon battle though due to the previous report of the unused possibly bugged special attack, the one where a bright light and loud sound appear and the menu goes away for a second. Called Incinerate. It might have to do with having the item screen open and possibly tied to Oboro and/or his dog block animation, but this is not for sure because I can't reproduce it on my side at all under any circumstances. And if you zozmaasmodeus are pretty sure that it happened on the Floating Continent, then it might be something else.
To be safe I should probably just replace the special animation with a normal one, but I'd like to be sure first because it is a pretty cool unused animation and I'm not sure how it could cause this bug. And I'd like to see it for myself in action to be sure.
Are both of you by any chance using snes9x? I always use and test with zsnes so if so than maybe that has something to do why I can't seem to trigger it, although I doubt it.

Interesting, so you're pretty sure then it didn't appear in your inventory right after the burning house event?

If you do find out anything more or can narrow it down even further, should you try to find out where or how this is happening or it happens again please tell me! I do see

Sadly there are some nasty bugs that escaped me when testing this version, but a v1.4 is on the way soon so please be on the lookout.
Here is a list of the bug fixes that will be included, so you can see that they will be fixed when/if you encounter them...:
- fixed some overworld tiles that allowed chocobo riding to move past but character could not, resulting in becoming stuck forever if jumped off.
- fixed some veldt overworld tiles as well that were not the correct ones.
- fixed a couple issues in the returners hideout.
- fixed a mistake with an NPC event in WoB Jericho.
- fixed a possible issue of recieving two Midgar Zolom magicites.
- fixed a bad entrance event to the 'secret shop' map in the wor esper town.
- fixed an event trigger freeze for the Shenron castle balcony.
- fixed an issue with the flame that burns away the root coming back.
- fixed an exploit of getting to the Sealed Gate without Aurora.
- fixed some possibilities of lightning strikes happening outside of Psycho City.
- fixed an issue with the Lightsaber being broken as hell.
- fixed a freeze in Cloud's scenario when talking to a soldier.
(- Gamma Sword fix one soon to come, hopefully...)
The major ones here being the freezes in the wor maps, which there are two of, and the Lightsaber's brokenness. And this Gamma Sword one of course. The other bugs are pretty bad too, but nothing like an event freeze to ruin your fun =X There's also some more changes but I won't list them quite yet.
Will be out in a week - two weeks at most.

I'm running ZSNES 1.51 and the soldier in question is the one closest to the front door of the rich man's house.
Liking the changes compared to 1.1. The split scenario sections used to be danger spots for getting permastuck from lack of resources (such as doing Astral, Aurora, Banon with no Recharges). There are now accessible merchants. Opted to blow nearly all my starting cash on a Thief Knife at the beginning. Had some hesitation at first but decided I liked borrowing from monsters enough. With a stash of 74 Pizzas at Calamity, it has proven bountiful.
Somehow have two Quicksilvers after between entering the Imperial camp and leaving it even though I thought I only found one. Could it be a case of receiving a different item than the one displayed? Never did figure out how my two Red Apples went to one without ever using or selling one though that's potentially forgetfulness.

As soon as Oboro joins in the empire camp in the desert, you also receive a Quicksilver, i'm quite sure about that, because it was suddenly in my inventory during the fight against NPC Kefka(before that event it wasn't in my inventory).

Edit:
Yes I can confirm this one, pops into inventory right before the small battle with Kefka. Will see what's up tomorrow and fix 'er up.

I was deeply sadden with the music glitches found on SNES9x as the music in the hack is the best of the hack itself.

Sweet. Still i managed to use it JUST for that Fight. Also. Lightsaber is pretty broken at that part too as it hits for 9999 on everything XD so i rushed Ultima with it and saw i pretty much destroyed him in like... 3min? i un-equipped both swords and re-started the fight.

Huh? I didn't report it when i posted that segment, because for some reason i thought it was intentional
I mean... Oboro is a ninja/assassin and provided a Quicksilver... it sounded like one like him could own that item XD
