Well, a couple of them:
Is this hack still actually in Beta? Or can it be played through no problem? I'm very interested in giving it a shot, but if there are still bugs being ironed out, I don't mind waiting around.
Also, I've played through the original multiple times and am pretty familiar with the game. That said, I'm not very patient when it comes to "hardtype" hacks that basically just create massive stat imbalances to add difficulty. Is this one of those types of hacks or does this add a bit more strategy to things? The description leads me to believe it isn't the former, but I'd rather ask first.

As far as we know, the modder has been MIA for quiiite some time.
And, let me strongly suggest changing to the other project, FFVII New Threat for your FFVII needs.

Thanks or the quick reply---I was very interested in trying out New Threat, but I read it was only compatible with the PC/Steam version, which I was not planning on using.
I'll definitely be happy to try it out if I'm wrong though!

as far as i know it is only compatable with the pc/steam versions though i could be wrong. but if you have not got them before you should definitely grab them wheneve ryou can, generally they are superior tot he emulator version and im pretty sure many problems it has had in the past have been ironed out by now

I played through this hack and it was a lot of fun! Not the hardest, but overall well balanced and DEFINITELY more challenging than the vanilla!
Boss fights are really tricky at certain parts of the game, and I found myself forced to use a large variety of interesting materia strategies to survive with stats being so nerfed. It was a fresh breath of air in a game that I love to death.
The endgame balance is a little out of whack. Yuffie and Vincent deal absurd amounts of damage with final weapons. I mitigated this unbalance by giving myself challenges with the weapons: either all physical or all magical damage only.
The materia cave bosses are A LOT OF FUN.
I want to try New Threat, too, as there are some loose ends with this mod, but if you don't have/can't easily get PC version and have the itch to play FF7 again... I wholly recommend.
