Correct, even in Vanilla separate bonuses to a character's HP or MP didn't stack. -

Raiden's sprite has indeed been scrapped.
Alternate summons also won't happen due to our complete lack of unused spell slots. -

WoR re-averaging was moved around. I'd have to check my notes again to see exactly where it happens, but if memory serves, it happens before Celes wakes up. There shouldn't be any instances of it thereafter, outside of Umaro and Gogo. -

Save states retain the state of RAM as well, so there's a lot of room for inadvertent corruption. As others have said, the best way to upgrade to a newer minor version is to make an in-game SRAM save and patch a unmodified ROM. -
In Topic: 1.8.0 with CTB Patch = infinite Sap/Regen?

That was my original plan for CTB - to implement it and allow the player to toggle between it and nATB. That's extremely ambitious though, and depending on my motivation as well as the future usability/stability of CTB, may never actually happen.
Passing turns in CTB could be as easy as selecting Defend, though, and setting the character's ATB bar back 20% or so. There are options, but a lot of it is easier said than done.
