I don't know you Advent but I can almost fully understand what it is to live with bipolarity and depression or even your brother's autism. My "problem" will never be an excuse to not achieve great things but I have the chance to have a strong family circle and I live in a country where the social net is more developed than in others. This is called privileges in a bad luck. I was able to finish a technical degree Quebec's "college" and now I'm in university in computer sciences.
Some people don't have that chance; the single mother with 3 kids and no family working at walmart will statistically not go to university even if she would like to, because of economic reasons, lack of resources and the poverty vicious circle. You can blame these women for having kids but you can't tell they all have a victim mentality for being stuck in the situation they are. Some people get discouraged more easily by nature.
However most people are unaware of their privileges (healthy-white-men-who-has-living-middle-class-parents) and are at the same time unaware they have everything to solve their problems. There will always be exception cases to the rule that someone more privileged can overcome more easily a problem than someone unprivileged, but if the second one can overcome it, so is the first one.
