Insane Difficulty: To see the end of it. [LP] - Insane Difficulty

It's weird how things happen sometimes. You know a game is great, you know it's your kind of game, you know it is balanced, and it provides the amount of challenge and customization you so want in that game's genre. And in this case, you even know the creator is a meticulous son of a bitch who likes to not only tease your brain, but train it through cleverly designed AI scripts and dialogues, until what you're doing is just following the flow of a well polished game.

So what happened to me all of this time that I was never able to play Brave New World? We are all aware of how active the forums of this mod have been, which is not only good, but absolutely great. But then when I played it, something happened. I couldn't enjoy the mod. And I've recently realized the key point of it: The forums and the chat hadn't caused a sense of Hype Backlash, but rather a case of Hype Aversion. And it never faded away. Because the mind likes to close itself, it likes to convince itself that it is right about something.

And luckily, there was a way out of this cave. Out of nowhere, one of my favourite LPers, SoulRed12 started a LP of BNW. Check it out here. And that's all it took. And here I am now, starting a LP that I know I'll finish, because I'm not forcing myself to play this. I want to see the end of it now.

Unlike my last attempt in recording this, I'll be smarter this time and cut off anything that's actually unnecessary. For example, the first 2 episodes will only showcase the boss battles from the start of the game to the start of Sabin's scenario, plus the whole Mt. Koltz part because it's awesome.

Weren't you and Truth doing an LP of this at one point? That LP is actually what got me into this mod in the first place.

It ended up as a Truth solo project.

One thing though, try lowering your game volume a bit. It's hard to hear your sexy voice.

It is a bit sad that you're cutting out a bunch of the content, though. Since it's your first playthrough, it's fun to watch everything, but if it's what you want to do I guess I can't complain.

Gotta say, I've never seen this happen before. It's *technically* an oversight on our part, but you've got to go through quite a few fails to make it happen.

Something I should have made clearer is that I'll only be cutting content until the start of Sabin's scenario. From there, it will be a standard LP, where I'll only skip formations that we've already seen and/or nothing interesting happens. Or I'll try to edit the vid accordingly if all I do is wander around without me finding anything. <.<

So far, it's been a relaxed ride, product of the whole "I know this already" feeling. I know what to expect, when to defend, when to be mindful about counters, etc etc. I even sold many of my items, including a couple of Tinctures in South Figaro, to get extra equipment and items. You'll see how that turns out.

Episode 2? It includes all of Mt. Koltz, and the two bosses between that, and Sabin's scenario! My scenario order was Terra, Locke, then Sabin btw. Check it:

I was a little worried that you wouldn't make it through Mt. Kolts without any Dried Meats, but I guess I underestimated you. Although the Iron Cutlass is really not worth getting IMO.

8:50 - Are you doing it blindfolded too now?

28:00 - You had already Runiced his first Sleep spell at that point. You never put Runic back up afterwards.

28:30 - That is not Interceptor, that is Tapir (one of Mog's Dances). He shows up if you are on Sleep status for a while, and he wakes you up.

Nice LP so far! I'm interested in Sabin's scenario once you get there.

My first response would be to have Hell Angel have a Mythril Bolo available for stealing purposes, but A) that beaks the 'only humans have items' thing, and B ) wouldn't help anyway because you can't equip in battle. So I too am curious to see what he does. Can you get a sword from one of the other random battles?

Just have Celes start with a Mythril Bolo equipped? Doesn't fit w/ being in jail, but it avoids getting stuck on that fight.

Suggestion: Put a sword in one of the caves in the chest that upgrades along a path available in local stores at whatever point in the game you happen to be at. Not perfect, since you could pick it up early and sell it, but the obvious alternative is to set up a place to buy it after leaving South Figaro, either by letting somebody get back in there or adding in a travelling merchant at Sabin's house like the one at the Old Man's house. You would otherwise need to add some Imperial Soldiers to the cave formations at that point in time, under the pretense that they're patrolling it, and give them stealable swords.
