I grew up and out of listening to rap, but I don't hate it. This song was very excellent though.
Do you hate rap? (read the fucking post before you reply)

I'm not into rapping as its own thing, but I do appreciate Hip-Hop. The melody takes an almost absolute backseat to the rapping here to the point where you could keep just the beat and it would remain relatively unscathed, so I can't say I particularly enjoy it. But taste doesn't advocate for quality, and I can't really hear anything blatantly wrong with the song.
What I'm fond of is when the artist ingenuously incorporates rapping into the composition, like Rage Against the Machine's Metal + Hip-Hop lovechild, or Nujabes'...whatever those beautiful sounds are.

I can understand your irritation 100%. But why bring it here when someone is actually trying to show something positive out of a music genre that has been degraded to a joke?
If BTB had replied in any other way, i probably would have dropped dead from shock. I almost did when Ludo said he liked it.

Good beat, it's pretty solid in terms of lyrics, but I wish it wasn't so negative man. So many songs that talk about how certain demographics of people are just... Awful. Sure, the ending is a bit more positive, but I'm not going to lie, it never makes me feel good to hear songs like this. The end of the song ends with a ray of hope rather than simply being a song about how someone can be better than what they are currently being. Even if though I personally stayed focus, I will never be: "a real nigga." Sorry.
From a simple stylistic perspective? It's good. I'd give it a solid 7 or 8 in my book. Especially for a clearly lower budget video. And there wasn't anything particularly tinny or grainy about the song so it was enhanced properly as well. Still, I will say that I don't regret hearing this though.
Also to answer your question Kjata? No. I do not hate rap. But I do find many of the personas created around hip-hop or rap to be tiresome, lost, and regressive and terrible role models for some of the more impressionable youths.

I hate rap. I hate hate hate hate rap.
But...when I define rap, it is the generally horrible stuff that you see on [insert radio or TV medium here]. Hip Hop is what I refer to when artists keep true to the roots of what the genre is. I do like Hip Hop. I just have constantly told my friends that I have an issue that when something that would get me ridiculed and beaten if i said it earns these "artists" millions of dollars because they put a (sometimes ripped off) beat behind it.
So really it's give or take on whether I like it or not, and song message usually plays a huge part in that.
