The person to talk to would have been Rosalina.
And remember, you can walk past the chest at the end of the Palace of Shadow.

In fact I believe it was 1 of the 2 he immediately tells you about after smithy, and several bosses later in the line, I got the mystile. It has the same effect (according to the tooltip) as genji armor with a very slight defensive edge, but a massive offensive loss, seems almost objectively worse. Is there a hidden effect of mystile? Seems to give no kind of evasion like it's effect in FF7.
Defense is very valuable, equip it if you REALLY need a bit extra defense.

I read that you can respec later on so I didn't worry about suboptimal stats on level up and I use Mario and Bowser as strong attackers, while peach heals and can use her strong aoe special. But creating a need for any random element throughout a late phase of a battle seems so specific and unnecessary. Not sure if I should hope I get lucky and he changes back to physical weakness or if I should reset and use mallow to try to cover lightning and ice better, either way will be a struggle to want to continue that fight.
Mallow is good for strong magic and Geno can do some good damage with Geno Whirl.

26 minutes ago, Soulofsteel said:Weakness is one thing, but absorb all elements that I have except lightning which I have 1 insanely weak attack of, and avoiding physical altogether? Is it turn to turn his weakness changes? Or maybe when he does his massive hit all attack?
You need to have characters with strong magic to stand a chance.
His weakness changes every time he uses Barrier Shift. The first weakness change happens after the "massive hit all attack" if I recall correctly.
Remember: If Smithy isn't weak to a certain element, he will absorb it. If you use a physical attack, it'll miss unless that's what Smithy is weak to. The only way to guarantee damage is knowing his current weakness or using non-elemental attacks such as Geno Whirl.
-
He switches weakness over the course of the battle.

I recall that being in the alpha.

I can assure you that timed hits are not altered in that fight, and the boss will not get stronger as the battle goes on. The boss follows the same pattern every time, so try to learn the pattern and strategize accordingly.

Look where you can't reach.

You most likely missed a Final Fantasy boss. Ask the frog for advice.

I'd say bad luck.

2 hours ago, DNSain said:Ok so I have two questions 1. I can not seem to obtain the legendary seed and fertilizer from the shy away clan, I keep killing them with no luck so what the hell do I need to do to obtain this for Marios better weapon.
and question 2. beating the kaiser dragon
no matter what I do he keeps killing me especially toward the end when the screen is all black its insta death so I don't know what im missing ? he's pretty damn strong but at then end even when my whole party was alive the screen flashes and just kills my ass ?
1. Kill Shy Aways and Anti-Shy Aways. Make sure your inventory isn't full.
2. You need to be prepared to face the Kaiser Dragon by resisting most if not all elements and also by having strong weapons. I'd recommend waiting until having done most of the easier bosses first.

If you want a weapon of any sort, you'll be disappointed.

You'll find Croco in a mostly empty house up in the sky.

Just get a US rom somewhere.

Have you ever seen Ozma in FFIX?

3 minutes ago, NoIdeas4Names said:(Don't interpret this as me saying the hack is bad, quite the opposite, i've liked it since the old versions and it's easily the best ROM hack i've ever seen, taking an already good SNES game and vastly improving upon every aspect.)
The pinned post about design here BTB

If you ask me, vanilla sucks after playing through Armageddon.

Easy Rosalina during Beta testing
https://youtu.be/wkSbgQkLHDU?t=8715super buffed rosalina after the beta test
https://youtu.be/JOBFLUdD0Xs?t=4971Rosalina version 3:
The official game that's out now. This is a boss that was NOT meant to be a pushover. Considering who the boss is, you should understand why. She was nearly impossible in version 8. So I nerfed her a lot. More importantly, I was worried that this boss would be a repeat of version 8, so I nerfed her even more. Unfortunately, Nitro made her look like a pushover. So I re-buffed her. But I over did it, so I nerfed her a little after that..while adding that little counter attack she does to keep you honest.
version 9's new features definitely overwhelm many people, and some thought the game was too hard right from the beginning. However, there are others who didn't complain about how hard the game was. They adapted and picked the game apart. These are the kinds of gamers the hack was meant for, so I took the kid gloves off. However, an easy mode was made so all gamers can have a chance to experience and enjoy the game.
In the final boss's case, it's all about team building, Item managment, stats(which is why the respec feature is a thing), your equipment, and a little luck.
Darkkefka just gave me a shoutout... kinda

3 minutes ago, MuteCitizenMaster said:Honestly, I think I already did that by beating the FF Boss Rush before Trial Mode. The fact that you can use Celebi and Galaxy Star after every round makes it so easy.
Don't worry, you won't have to worry about that in hard mode.
-
9 minutes ago, MuteCitizenMaster said:I don't know. At this point, it seems that I may have more chances with this than beating trial mode. Since it's all timing based, that already makes it easier.
Sure, but you can't get the main reward.
-
12 minutes ago, MuteCitizenMaster said:Oh boy, you weren't kidding when you said you buffed her, huh?
I now have the Paladin armor and I'll go defeat "her" to get that wonderful piece of equipment. This should be enough to beat Trial Mode.
You won't get the OP accessory until you've beaten both Trial Mode and the FF Boss Rush.

QuoteThis strat will only work if you guard with your fastest party member and if you luck out with RNG. This is not a viable strat.
Just always defend with Geno, heal with Peach, and attack with your attacker. You might want to use a Found Illision or 2 just to be safe.

2 hours ago, MuteCitizenMaster said:This is more like a balancing issue regarding the final boss of the FF Boss Rush.
Terra does this thing where she does Black Hole->Riot Blade everytime after a certain number of hits. There should be a cue (a charging animation like some bosses do) that will let you know when she's about to do this attack pattern, because the only way to survive this is by guarding. You shouldn't be punished like that for trying to win the fight.
Try defending with 1 character every turn.
