  1. Alright, so after watching WolfBlade speedrun this a few times, I decided to join in on the fun.  I took his original route and rerouted it to save a ton of time and be more consistent.  At first I tried doing this with v8 final, but that version is much, much slower, so now I'm doing the beta as well.

Here's my opening entry of 3:10:53:

This run had so many mistakes.  I look forward to wolfblade beating this almost immediately now that he can see the full route.

  2. Nice!  You've gotten a lot better at doing the max jump, and it also looks like you've figured out some faster strats (like Smithy).

I've got a tip for you that might help you reach that 3:20.  Several of the later bosses have "lives".  What this means is you'll reduce their HP to zero, then they'll heal back to full.  Once you do this enough times, they'll be defeated.  The important thing to note here is that damage from one life doesn't carry over to the next.  In other words, for a fight like Smithy, you should be aiming to do 30,000 HP four (?) times, not 120,000 total damage.  Keeping this in mind should help you avoid wasting turns doing an attack when the next character would take the life either way.

    Good luck getting to 3:20!

Anyways, the setup was Mario, Geno, and Peach, I believe.  So, I fast-forwarded through the spells Yiazmat would cast, while being careful not to fast-forward through the normal attacks.  Then it got to a point where he used Wave Cannon (while I was fast-forwarding), and it says "MDEF DOWN" while displaying damage numbers for each character.  Then, for some odd reason, Peach's damage number doesn't go away, and neither do the letters "DOW".

The likely cause of this is a memory leak on one of the attacks being used.  To avoid this, end battles more quickly, without using those attacks (I forget which ones).

Oh I don't mean you specifically, I just mean in general. I was a huge fan of the work for a long time and no internet for a while and missed the V9 open test, it sucks. It's not like no longer making it public took the file from people so Idk why make it no longer public if he's busy for the past 6-9 months. Simply seeing true damage is beyond intriguing in my opinion, it sucks not being able to. Did I perfect time that Ultima? I'm not sure if it hits 9999 on the 2ndary timing aswell.

Regarding Ultima, either you perfectly time it or you don't deal 9999.

I'm so curious how the levels past 30's stats are handled because you can't access levels past 30 in the editor O.o and if I try to access Peach's info it just flat out crashes, I'm guessing because you get her past level 30.

I had no part in this, but my understanding is the pointers to the information were changed to a location with more space, and then directly modified in a hex editor.

  6. There's nothing particularly special about those spells aside from the fact they deal a lot of damage.  It's just the damage display only goes to 9999.

Celebi alternates between 4 different effects.  The order of the effects is always the same, and repeats indefinitely.

Several items, like Kerokola-3, simply add another item (like Kerocola-2) to the inventory upon use.  Others use a counter.
