Thank you for the info on Bribe. This explains why my testing it out on Gagazet yielded dismal results for everything but a couple enemies. The one Mech at least I was able to Bribe to get a single Door to Tomorrow. That apparently can be made to Customize equipment with Overdrive > AP. It sounds like it could be useful, especially for Tidus with Warrior and Demi at the Omega Ruins. Of course, I have no idea how many Doors it takes to learn that ability. I was just testing. I did discover the Mimics giving 50K, though. I beat it with Auron w/Sentinel + Evade and Counter. Your strategy sounds a lot faster though. Thank you. I should really go and stock up on Candles of Life. It was just that, by Zanarkand, I was getting really tired of random encounters being a struggle. I especially hate robots in this mod because the only status that works on them is Slow and it often misses. Those Cannon and Kick Robots are just BS. The cannons especially because they can hit the whole party and that move seems to ignore defense. My Protects never help.

Well I always have Dream Powders and Smoke Bombs and Silence Grenades and Petrify Grenades and...you get my meaning. Random fights in this game are becoming ludicrous. The only way I survive is having Sonic Steel on Tidus and Using some debilitating item on the enemies immediately when the fight starts. Otherwise they often oneshot any of my party exceptmaybe Auron. Thanks for telling me about the capture stuff but I already got the airship. I went to the Omega Ruins to see what I could get. Somebody tipped me off that Bribe is the real key to success now and Steal is becoming less useful. Bribe is apparently how I could have gotten the item for Trio of 9999. ButI don't have the kind of money to be spending upwards to 100K to get itesm from enemies at present. I watched an LP years ago that talked about how crafting armors with certain abilities was the best sourcee of money in the game but I forget which abilities. I'll try to figure taht out on my own. I kinda have to if Bribe is this essential to getting unique items and stuff. I've already kinda given up hope on getting the full powered Celestial Weapons. I ain't dodging 00 lightning bolts. But with awesome items, I can craft my own ultimate weapons.

I caught all the ones in the Calm Lands, yeah and beat Chimerageist but I can't do any more since he wants Bikanel monsters next. Anyway to get the Malboro I used a Blk Mage Sphere to teach Tidus Demi which is now I got Blitz Ace pretty quick. Demi on these buckets of HP random encounters fills up his Warrior Overdrivegauge in no time. I was thinking about Evade & Counter but I wasn't sure if it actually increased evasion. Auron isn't very spry after all. But if it can make Auron a dodging and damage machine, I will absolutely use one of my 2 TeleportSpheres to teach it to him. Seymour Flux absorbing elements wasn't a huge deal because he still took reasonable damage from physical attacks. Sad to hear Yunalesca will also make Rikku's offense useless but good to know I guess. Spectral Keeper isa lot simpler than Sanctuary, agreed. It's just taking forever. BlitzAce + Miracle Drink does about 11000 damage and Auron has Entrust so I can get off about 22,000 damage. Problem is the glyph mines as I just died because Tidus didn't get his turn fast enough. Sigh. Had him down to less than half HP, too. Thank you so much for your promptly reply and advice! Really appreciate it. EDIT: As for Double HP, I only have one Stamina Tablet left and I dunno when I can get more. Mega Vitality is awesome but I'm reluctant to use it. I've never actually beaten FFX in terms of a lot of optional content. I just did story, ya know? So I dunno where or how to get awesome items. The Arena I hear and Omega Ruins too probablybut I just don't want to use special items if at all possible. EDIT 2: Even a Miracle Drink Blitz Ace wasn't enough to Overkill Spectral Keeper...What the hell does this guy want from me?

Did anyone here play it? For those who don't know, this is the 20th anniversary of Xenogears, a game that is near and dear to me. As such, I figured a replay was in order and I'd also try out another hack/mod from a guy I've quite enjoyed. (FFVIII Requiem and FFIX Unleashed were the first time I had replayed either game in years) However, I'm at Calamity and it's not very...challenging or fun because there's no real skill involved. Between this and the Worm fight, it's all luck and tedium. I would think things get more interesting once I can finally start buying more items and running about grinding but for that to happen, I'd have to pray Calamity lets me win. Or I could maybe just find some cheat code that lets me oneshot Calamity and then turn it off after the boss fight... But I dunno. That's why I was asking if anyone here has played it?

Well, after being rather happy with the modifications to Rico (making him the powerhouse he should have been) I'm completely fucked by the final round with the Gebler squad. They each do 400 damage at minimum and often combo up to 1000+. It's just Weltall against at least the first three of them and also after the Rankar fight potentially took off at least 400 health. You have to pray Weltall dodges and he often doesn't. I have absolutely no clue how you're supposed to survive this gauntlet This really is possibly the worst hard mod I've ever seen and that makes me very sad..

Well now I'm completely stuck on the fight with Elly and her gang. There's literally no way to win. According to an old post by LR, you're supposed to be "given" a Frame HP30%. i wasn't given shit. I can only assume he meant you had to find it somewhere. Where, I have no idea. I looked around the mountain place and didn't find anything. So...either I hack in a FH30 or I stop here. I wish I could just ask him or somebody else who beat this where I'm supposed to get it.

Well I beat it thanks to the power of Save States. That's probably cheating but I don't really feel guilty. I tested Calamity out with a real cheat, finding out it has about 5000 HP or so, which would be twice its original HP so that seems likely. If he had just nerfed Calamity's HP like some people requested in the ID forum, made it more like 3500-4000, that would be a lot more forgivable. As it is, I barely beat it with just Fei alive and totally out of fuel. In a fight with real choice, strategy and, ya know, fun, I have no intention of save stating my way to victory. But this boss had none of those so I'm gonna go on without looking back. I'm determined to beat this game because, as noted, vanilla Xenogears is just too easy so I want to revisit my old love and have it actually be interesting to play.

Hm, I dunno. FFVIII's narrative is not the best unfortunately. I really feel like Adel should have been the main villain because then it really connects the struggles of Laguna's group with the modern heroes', ya know? With Adel as the Big Bad, bringing Laguna along to finally totally defeat his old nemesis would be very rewarding, just like how bringing Seifer and/or Edea to defeat Ultimecia would be the logical conclusions of their character arcs. But Laguna has no real connection to Ultimecia so the story element would seem ab it less climactic, ya know?

Having Seifer rejoin the party before Ultimecia's Castle is what SHOULD have happened in the main game and if it was in this mod, I would instantly love it, regardless of any other alteration.
