Well take care of yourself. Our prayers are with you.

"Oh, almost forgot. Shadow missed himself with a Smoke Bomb while blinded. How do you even miss a smoke bomb?"
Well, if you're already blind yourself, it's difficult to capitalize on a a maneuver that blinds your opponents.
"Really like the new line where Locke now tries to help Danchou relax. I took Cyan this time and really like the way he talks too."
Credit to @Bishop for re-doing all of Cyan's lines.
"Atma Weapon was "defeated by a phantom who was able to dispel its power"? Is that a hint to cast Dispel on it? >.>"
"-Wasn't expecting the healing lady in Vector to have new dialogue. Kinda FF5 Spoof-y, but nice. Also the inn o.O;;"That line is me venting some frustration at people who pronounce names from this game wrong.
"-Huh, so that's where Vicks went. Wonder where Wedge is?"
Same place he always was? >.>
"-Wait, how does Terra "remember it all" when she was just a baby? (Well okay, she left when she was 2. That's more reasonable for remembering how her parents met.)"
Shush. You're not supposed to notice the plot hole."-When Arvis mentions the new equipment in Narshe, he says they intercepted a shipment "bound from Albrook". You must mean "bound for Albrook.""
No, I mean bound *from* Albrook to the front lines where the Empire's soldiers are fighting. There's little sense in shipping equipment to and from the same continent when there's only one port town on it >.>
"-Lol @ Terra quoting Derpy :v"
So few people notice that one
"-So after the Battle on the Bridge, is there a way you could change the espers flying out to ones the player couldn't have? I always thought it was weird seeing a second Shiva and Zoneseek."
It's always bugged me, too, but the game's graphics code is a fucking nightmare.
"-I like the line where Gestahl admits to being weary and asks for a break."
I did this to make it more obvious that breaking is the "correct" choice.- 1

@Franklin_WI were you running 1.8.5 or 1.8.6? I ask because one of the changes in 1.8.6 should have made running quite a bit easier.

5 hours ago, SuperHario said:What statuses does cover check for? Image and clear should not be covered, probably muddle too (since the muddled character could end up killing your own team, or you might want to attack the character with a brush or shiv to break muddle).
Another thought, could an attack with a spear against a teammate be covered by the attacker (a rather impressive maneuver)? That should probably be nixed too.
Thinking a bit more on it, maybe all attacks from teammates should be ignored for cover purposes. You could have an odd strategy of e.g., flameguard and flametongue to heal. Also makes muddle a bit more detrimental as a status ailment.
Check the Readme - everything is explained there.
Short answer is that everything you're suggesting should already be the case, and we're just running into issues that have arisen from rewriting the code. -
8 hours ago, thzfunnymzn said:The major issue I'm seeing here is that naming the build after one esper, with the base also being a hybrid, doesn't really match up with whag the builds really are. For example, something like 10/10 Terrato/Stray on Sabin is definetly a stamina build. Or, something like 7/7/7 Unicorn/Carbunkl/Maduin on Terra is a (bulky) magic build. Also, stuff like Siren vs Shiva on Celes is definitely nitpicking at build differences.
These are loose guidelines rather than hard rules right now, obviously; you'll notice I've specified no numbers, and with good reason. Right now I'm just trying to get the idea out there.
Also good to see you here - I was worried about you the other day because I know you're right in that path of that thing. Stay safe, my friend.
P.S. I didn't forget Speed Relm so much as I decided that Speed Relm is effectively her "hybrid" build >.>

So, one of my "wish list" items for BNW at some point in the future is to bring back the "class" labels. Except rather than simply being a description of the character, it would reflect their esper build. Each character would have a "default" class that would eventually change depending on which esper they predominately use for EL growth (or remain the same for hybrid builds, for the sake of simplicity). If you've ever played Seiken Densetsu 3 or Sword of Mana, it's basically the same thing.
Without further ado, here we go!

Looks like the RC5 patch is 404ing.
-
Should be multiple issues with cover fixed, actually - near-fatal allies protecting healthy ones and allies protection enemies from muddled enemies. Check for both issues, please.
-
Yeah, last time I saw it I just held down frameskip for, like, a minute and it finally resolved.

I'm a little late with this post, but here are some things to look out for.
You can now prevent Atma Weapon from re-buffing by casting Dispel pre-emptively; you'll get a message the first time you Dispel him after he powers up indicating that his defenses are down and subsequent messages indicating that A) he is storing power again and B) you have removed that stored energy whenever you Dispel him again (i.e. a different message than if you Dispel him after he re-buffs). The re-fight with Atma does *not* exhibit this behavior as I did not have enough A.I. space. With cover now being more prevalent since it's attached to stamina and to spears, I'm curious to how a multiple bodyguard situation will work. Let me know.
The Life spell should be fixed now. Please test extensively.
The Demonsbane is now anti-undead instead of holy damage and it should proc 50% of the time. Do a run through the sealed Cave with it and let me know how it performs.
Please continue to test how stamina defends against status ailments set my enemy "special" attacks; it should prevent the status (but not the damage) some of the time. -
Yeah, you can't figure out what it does by looking it up in FF3USME anymore.

Huh, good catch. That error has been in there for a *long* time.
And to everyone reporting empty encounters, this is because I asked Synchysi to enable encounters in a few rooms that didn't have them before but forgot to specify a pack. I've already fixed this in my ROM.
-
And now we're almost up to TWENTY million.

3 and probably also 1 are my boo-boos and easy fixes. Seibaby will need to look at 2.
4 is a side effect of the patch that restores your MP prior to the battle of Narshe. Propose ditching it and just have Banon heal you if you talk to him during the fight.

Also a big WUT at Gau's Leap not ending battle any more and him returning immediately. Super useful, but I just stood there like a lox waiting for the fight to end lol. And omg the exchange at Crescent MountainThe inn guy at Nikeah worries me with his "clean" beds...
Went up against Fidor x1/Trooper x1 in the Narshe battle. Trooper used HasteX and Fidor countered him. Was that intended? o.o;
'eh, it's a thing.

What was specifically decided against was giving Umaro any kind of inherent cover, as that would pigeon-hole his equipment setup due to his incredibly high stamina. Without it inherent, deciding to tank and spank with him is a choice that you have to specifically gear out for (and sacrifice the Rage Belt to do).

Damn, guys. Thanks so much to everyone who's pitched in.

This was discussed and decided against.
Also, I have made an open offer to share the source dialogue with anyone who desires to re-translate BNW back to the Woolsey version. -
Pretty much just "fuck it". Don't think I'd be able to contact him without coming off rude/sarcastic anyway.

Changelog and documentation updated with the new change.

I'm impressed with how it managed to screw up the name of this hack that badly whilst looking at the logo.

"Final Fantasy VI: A Brave New Worlds"
That's a new one. Thanks... I guess?
-
So, because I apparently just can't stop fucking with things... a casual thought popped up during routine Discord discussion involving the upcoming changes that tie stamina to cover and counter. Given these changes, I figured it would make sense to make cover the standard spear property rather than counters. All said and done, this leads to some very... interesting changes for Edgar.

We are indeed referring to Hurricane Irma, which Funnyman is directly in the path of. This follows Hurricane Harvey, which flooded out Houston (where Synchysi and I live).
The class system is purely cosmetic on the surface - I'm not about to start asking for class perks when we don't even know that the base idea is feasible, but it is something I'd definitely be interested in.
(Also, any FMJ reference was purely unintentional. I'm not even sure what you're referring to >.>)
