  1. Heya!
Welcome to the NG+ forums as well. I would like to think the forums and the discord server are complementary of each other, though there will always be people you see in one place, not visiting the other, due to preference. The discord thrives as per usual, the site needs a little push to get going fully, but we are getting there. Glad to see you here as well!

  2. For whatever reason, I stopped playing games a while back, probably got saturated for the time being. I do kick something up on occasion, but it's been mostly stuff that I already know, or just to fill the time, and then I'm straight back to not playing anything again. But I usually get back in style, sooner or later. :P

    Original:

    • Xenogears
    • Mass Effect: Andromeda (have an early game save file, though)
    • Undertale
    • Spelunky

I have no idea, so many games... It's hard to remember all I've said "gotta play this game at some point" to. The list above is not necessarily even the ones I'm most interested in, just the first ones to pop into my head. Now, the below list is more interesting.

    Hacks:

    • FFVI: Brave New World (for real, this time)
    • Monster Tactics
    • Mega Man X: Hard Type
    • FFVII: New Threat

    Meatspace games:

I meant as a browsable mirror, not just a downloadable archive. So you can link to stuff.

    Yeah, that's comming up. :)

Were there things on there that needed linking? Outside of the mods themselves. Was there some that won't be able to come onto this site?

The entire history of this community. That in itself is worth a lot.

  4. Yo!
Making this short and sweet. I suggest connecting something like http://s.ngplus.net to rebrandly, to be able to make short links. Then it will be easy to make special links for the forums that's easy on the eyes, if posting about it elsewhere.

Using Brave New World as an example:

  5. Hi!

Considering the close relationship the ID community has with NG+, I post this in the Site Update section.

As many of you have realized by now, Insane Difficulty is currently down. We at NG+ have yet to hear from the owner of ID, so we do not know exactly what is going on. Nonetheless, what we do know is: not only is ID's official homepage down, but also the facebook page and the youtube channel. The general consensus is that it has been taken down for good, but keep in mind that it is only speculation at this point.

Also, here's a quote from @ninjasdf from the Discord announcement channel:

    Quote

[7:16 PM] ninjasdf: @everyone wanted to let everyone know that I've been keeping an eye on ID since it went down. I'm attempting to buy it off Arch so if anyone can help in that regard it would be awesome. Worst case scenario though if ID doesn't come back up within the next few days I have a static archive of it that I will be hosting on NG+ so at the very least a lot of history isn't lost. It's a static copy of the site from about a week before we launched NG+. Also if I can't buy it and it stays dead the mod and admin team here are discussing a sister site or possibility to incorporate difficulty mods into NG+. Will update everyone again soon

It almost sounds like it might be an interesting idea for an entire "community mod" to be worked on. Find a level editor that is relatively user friendly and assign people "level numbers" in that, then let them make a single level of a platformer. An organizer would them run through each level then organize them all into a game. (Lunar Magic comes to mind)

...and then we all try to finish the game as fast as possible.

  7. After looking around a little, the short answer to this is "no". But there are always longer answers involving the answer "yes", as it of course is technically possible.

From what I can see, you can force change the theme a forum uses, so technically possible that way. However, tedious to keep several whole themes up to date for this single purpose. Will have to research more to see if there are easier ways to go about this, without resorting to something home cooked and half baked.

  8. OK, so you have not uploaded your files anywhere. There is a plethora of ways to go about this. I can recommend several, but I guess you're not that interested in checking out alternatives, so I'll narrow it down to one, for the sake of simplicity.

    • Go to the homepage http://dropcanvas.com/
    • Create an account if you want the files to be available for longer than 6 hours.
    • Drag and drop to upload
    • Copy-paste the "Share link", which can be found at the top of the page when you've started the upload.

  9. Yeah, as you seem to have understood, management over at ID was hardly existent for years, ngplus.net being the reaction to that.

    Advent = Kyrios

I'm gonna be honest, I'll probably not try to do this challenge. Partly because I never really was that good at 1.3 (not that bad either, though), partly because I haven't played FFT for years, but mostly because I don't feel like it at the moment (i.e. got better things to do). If the latter changes, I might give it a go. Hopefully someone else will oblige you, however.

  10. I'm a navigation nut. I want the navigation on the site to feel easy and fluent. I should not have to think twice.
This is generally the case here on NG+, we have a good platform. However, I seem to not naturally be drawn to the current methods of getting to the latest post while browsing new content.

    1. Does nothing more than show you what type of content it is.
    2. Takes you to the latest post in the thread
    3. Takes you to the start of the thread
    4. Takes you to the latest post

It works as is, but 2) is neither an obvious choice design wise or that easy to navigate via. The travel from "Unread Content" in the top left and 4) is also not good from a UX perspective. I would suggest making 1) also go the the latest post of the thread/the new content.
